        hi i got a match on sunday on birkwood farm on the main lake can anyone give me any info on how it fishing and bait and tackle i will need .

          Hi ziggy try close in for the skimmers (top2) with pellet worm or caster. Possible to do 40-50lb in high summer, watch out for the odd carp turning up.

            Yeah I would agree, the lake is full of hand sized Skimmers & Crucians. There is a head of proper Carp but they are not on every peg and not worth targetting. If you get your head down for the bits and stick at it you can make a match winning weight without lumps. I would recommend pellet, the skimmers cue up for it even in January.
