TF_stokerIs anyone interested in a trip to the Channel this coming month? I’ve never fished it before but I am determined to get there this year.

MattLJimmy and I were thinking of a meet at the Bristol Channel before xmas. We’d be coming from Norfolk so could pick up on the way within reason. I was lucky enough to live there a few years back and can arrange bait and venues. Upper channel is usually better for numbers before Xmas

TF_stokerI’ve looked at it on a map, but can you tell us any more about it?

MattLTry Layde Bay on low water, then the wall at Severn Beach on high water. Mid size tide or time fishing limited by the tide and stuff floating down.

TF_diddy123burnham is at the mouth of the river parret and on neap tides like the weekend i’ve said can be absolutely awesome. mainly cod/codling to crab or big worm/squid baits and whiting to smaller worm baits. watch out for the congers they like live baits(whiting) get them to 20lb+.

kennyboyif you are fishing burnham on sea you must be aware it is VERY muddy.
i normally just take rods, tripod and two buckets, one for tackle and one for bait.
waders are a must as the mud gets everywhere -

TF_stokerThanks for the excellent response. Is Burnham snaggy? Kennyboy, thanks for your tips! I presume that lug/squid/crab is the preferred fish food?

kennyboyburnham isnt really snaggy but sometimes you can snag a large lump of mud or similar.dont walk too far to the right {past the lower light)as it just keeps on getting muddier the further you walk.bait is big lug/crab baits as the water is very dirty a big scented bait is essential.
you can sometimes be plagued by small strap conger (5-6lb) -

kennyboyforgot to mention parking.
the best place to park is allandale road.
walk down the steps and fish anywhere you can get in. -
