FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 16/4/17
Last week 68 rods caught 277 fish for an average of 4.07 fish per rod
The cooler brighter weather saw a slight downturn in sport but with plenty of fish rising, anglers always felt they had a chance of a few fish. Small imitative patterns such as Hoppers, Pheasant Tail Nymph, Diawl Bach, olive or black Buzzer and Bloodworm have been the best patterns.
The best fish of the week was a 6lb rainbow caught by Mr C Massey of Birmingham who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he had a total of 11 fish which all came to Buzzers on a floating line. Alex Kerr of Nuneaton had a five fish limit including a 5lb 12oz rainbow whilst fishing from the bank of Cocks Close and again Buzzer was the successful fly. Bill Webster and Kevin Brookes shared a boat on Cocks Close and caught a total of 18 fish between them to 5lb and these all came to Damsels fished on an intermediate line. Ade Cooper of Maxstoke fished from the bank on Cocks Close and caught six fish on small CDC dries with his best just over 4lb.
The best areas have been the road bank, old boat jetty corner and the high bank on Cocks Close. It has been quiet on Park Meadow but those who have fished there have caught along the dam wall.
The Fishery is open from 8am until dusk.
