My head torch is just about knackered and I’m in 2 minds as to what to buy to replace it: Speleo Anglers Torch or Princeton tec apex 3watt LED….

        Any suggestions?

        Steve.

Anything but what the p***k with the lighthouse on his head at Pagham last night had. He was 300 yards down the beach but still managed to blind every body between Aldwick and Selsey with his high powered searchlight!!!!

For those that say I’m disgruntled, how is it that I can see for miles in the desert without a headlight, but some idiots need to illuminate half the county to thread a worm. I do have a head torch a very small 3 led petzel that is more than capable of providing enough light to illuminate a whole beach camp for the pruposes of pursuing the fish or three.

big, powerful headlamps do have their place.
i wouldnt fish off the purbeck cliffs without one.
those tiny 3 led lamps are ok for nice clean beaches but absolutely useless for somewhere like chesil where you are fishing off a 20 ft shingle bank, you need a light with a beam which can actually reach the water and not just fade away after a few metres

Kenny happy that you need the light for your purposes, but what does annoy me is those guys that insist on trying to prove their machoness by blinding every other person on the beach by shining high powered headlamps into peoples faces despite being asked not to, it didn’t help that he insisted on setting up within ten feet of a couple of lads that were already there and casting across them consistently all night and then blaming them for the resulting tangles.

                yeah,know what you mean.
its a shame that you cant use an auxillary bulb for general baiting etc and only use the lighthouse when it is needed

Yes, I know the one, I was at Pagham 7th, 8th, he had a base camp witj a northstar, and eddystone on his head, seemed to spend more time looking up and down the beach than at his rod tip, and last night he cast over me twice and not a word.

I bought a 3 watt luxeon off ebay for about 12 quid, bought it as back up for my samalite “lighthouse”, but it is good enough to use instead of the samalite, cheap, lightwight and comfy. It has 3 settings, the luxeon on its own, 5 leds or both together. Top bit of kit for the money, only thing is written all over the headband is “likke” the manufacturers name.

There’ll be plenty of bright lights at Selsey tomorrow with all those fireworks going off.
