I need some advice re sea fishing in Grampian. Where is the best place to get information on best locations – primarily shore and techniques. For example a local tackle shop. Any help appreciated

Spoilt for choice at this time of the year as the first of the codling should be calling in at the usual rock marks up and down the aberdeenshire coastline. If you want flatties, try aberdeen beach or St Cyrus beach. Add in Peterhead pier if you want a bit of variety. Rough rule of thumb is light tackle with lug/rag on the beaches and heavy gear for the rocky marks with frozen crab/mussel/squid/lug for the cod. The book Sea Angler’s Guide to Top Marks gives a few marks and tackle dealers (sorry for the gratuitous plug!). But your yellow pages will give you a couple of tackle shops to get more precise and up to date info. Hope this is of some help.

Ta Ada, was going to add on the “fish scotland” website as it’s usually got a few useful links for sea fishing as well.
