TF_WagglerAny idea of the result for the respective Winter Leagues. Had a ride down the Thames today and they both fished very hard. Medley was very patchy and a lot struggled. A4 looked good when I was there. Mick Davies obliged with a chub for the camera. He also lost one whilst I was there but had 4 more in the net.
I didn’t realise Middlesex were on Donnington until I was riding home. Caught a few anglers netting a few, but boy just about every Oxford student was in a rowing boat today. Bloody nightmare for some but a few fish were caught. Had a good chat with Sreve? Angel(Davies)he was on a few fish and done enough to win it I think.
Here are a few links to some of the photo’s I took today. Hope they workhttp://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t75/Waggler_photos/2007_10212007Various0002.jpg

TF_The RunnerYep, Stuart Angel won it at Donnington with 75 lb. After that it was a bit patchy . Put it this way, I was last in “A” section at the top end of the venue with 9 12 and think I was 6th overall ! 2nd in Stuarts section was I think 7 lb something.

TF_WagglerThanks to Richard Norris for the result of the Oxford WL.
OXFORD DIVISION ANGLING TIMES WINTER LEAGUE
2nd Round
21st October
River Thames Godstow, Medley & Folly
57 fishedWith very heavy rain a few days before the match raising levels substantially and a number of consecutive, and heavy, frosts this was never going to be an easy match. Thus 5 blanks and a number of anglers struggling for just single fish and ounces was not a big surprise.
However, a number of decent weights were still taken and topping the field was Chipping Norton angler Mario Martinac. Pegged one below the famous fallen tree at the top of the ‘poplars’ on F3 Mario fished long pole to land several good sized chub, best around 5lb, on chopped worm & caster.
Pegged the other side of the tree Mick Davies (Sensas A4) fished a similar way to land 5 good chub plus a couple of smaller samples for 20.5.8. This pushed Steve Harwood (Garbolino Banbury Gunsmiths) into third with 15.9.0. Steve was upstream at Godstow and fished maggot over groundbait for a very enjoyable and predominantly all roach catch. Kevin Holmes (Sensas A4) was pegged on Medley at the very top of the Perch bay and despite this areas poor recent form tempted another all pole caught chub weight of 14.9.0.
On the team front, Sensas A4, despite having one of their anglers among the 5 blanks, recorded an excellent win on the day with 45 points. This put them 11 points clear of runners-up Garbolono Banbury Gunsmiths who themselves just edged Chipping Norton by a single point.

TF_KatarinoWere you on the mudpit I was in on the Thursday Mick? If so how the hell did you manage to get set up to fish the pole? I spent most of the day up to my nuts in mud….

TF_mickydRoy yes i was, i couldnt sit on my box as the platform kept sinking so i had to stand behind my box as i was fishing at 14.5m and rest my arm on the box to hold the pole. But it still kept sinking and i was upto my nutz come the end of the match.

TF_KatarinoThat was why I fished the wag Mick, hate fishing the pole standing up. I do think the Chub were there the day I fished it but as soon as the sun came out it killed it. I started catching late when the sun went down behind the trees.
Are the bookings for Radley this weekend through Fat Phils again?

The-FlyGet the feeder rods out for Radley boys, just been to have a look at it, running a bit clearer with a tinge of colour. In terms of pace its about the same as Medley was on Sunday
