TF_David HallRoger Mortimore took the cameras to the recent Tackle & Guns Trade Show. Here he caught up with Mike Thrussell and got the inside track on Shakespeare’s latest range of sea fishing rods, the MTI Range. These rods are not in the shops yet. spidercrabI’d say that this whole business of publishers, mags and the ‘consultants’ who pen the ‘reviews’ therein blatantly pushing invidual brands/products so hard has now descended into the realms of farce.

Hoggy.ParticipantThe odd piece of Shakespeare kit is okay, in the main, well,it’s not!
Shall I compare thee to a Century CM, pray
Which art more lovely and more temperate.
Tough winds do shake the MTI, but not a Carbon Metal
Sometime too hot the eye of Fuji shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm’d;
And every Game Fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature’s changing course worn out.
But thy eternal Century shall not fade
Nor lose possession of that rod thou hast;
Nor shall you brag thou cast in his shade,
When in infernal lines thou grow’st like a K2.
So long as men can cast or eyes can see,
So long lives Century and Zzippy and these shall give fish to thee.I thought a sonnet had 14 lines, silly me, you learn something everyday, which is nice ;O)

Hoggy.ParticipantIt’s gone on for eons…. someone has a financial link to a specific company and it pushes that product, next minute they are connected with another company and they shout off about their products being the bests, biggest etc …. Most people see through it for what it is, but there are many that don’t.
I don’t blame anyone for trying to make a living, and I don’t blame anyone for speaking up “againstâ€

steviecopsThe three rods on the left side of the boat in the picture, are my old Shakespeare Ugly stiks with Fujis fitted. They are the best boat rods I’ve ever used, and I haven’t been paid a penny to say so! ;o)

MarksouthI use my Ugli Stik Gold Spin for freelining Ragworm for Wrasse and its brilliant.
I have also used it on the boat for Bream and have had a 14lb Smoothound on it.
It did bend a bit though :o)

TF_GreenmanIf a post or comment is removed, if should be replaced with details of why it was removed.
At least then we will know what’s going on and/or what we should not do or say. -
