        H.A,

I need some advice. I’m going deep on Sunday! 😉

My jigging rod and my 7kg drag has been set on my 80lb pe braid outfit with a 100lb leader. That is no problem for marlin and tunas BUT

I want a sailfish on my light outfit, 15lb braid at 300m, what is the smallest mono leader I can use slow trolling at 30m behind? Is 30lb double leader for 15ft enough. Sail about 30kg…

Thanks sir. I need to go 30lb to get a decent knot for the braid to hold or go for dacron. I’ve tested thin braid knots and joined to heavy mono, not reliable.

The hookless lure works, they have been used since a long time in Madagascar by HANDLINE fishermen. They diy it and it looked like a big white muppet squid! soaked with rum and a root which has been mascerated in the rum!

Always wear uderpants when boat Fishing or may:

            1. be off putting to the fish

            2. cause chafing

            3. get unwanted attention from the deckie

We’ll be fishing 2 set of rigged lines with 2 buoys with flags, 150lb spool of 300M lines (it is usual fto fish 2x300m) each and on 12 miles fished 600m of lines. Each line set with 5 hooks baited with either LIVE mackerel, anchoivy, small mullets or goatfish.

Lines set about 100m apart, while these lines are fishing, slow trolling around those buoys for bonitos, dorados and skipjacks (chance of a wahoo and billfish). I’ll be bringing my jigging outfit rated to 10kg, working 250g-300g jigs at around 100m+.

As I leave the lagoon, I will set 2 lines with either a kona or fly or squid rigged with owner/maruto 5/0 hooks.

18ft boat with 2x 15HP engine with a sail (emergency) and a gaff! Fishing on the 8miles bank and 12miles bank. 2 traditional fishermen, which does this when weather permitted to fight for a living! I’ll have the luxury of having 2 rods and 3 reels. On a normal day, they will fish 4 buoys, tunas to 150lb+ and other fish like Jobfish, sharks ect… They are selling the tunas for 0.75p an lb!!! Billfish for about the same price!

NO deckie, NO 130lb rods, NO penn Internationals, NO beers!

                I’m not on Holidays! 😉
