        PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY

        TELEPHONE NUMBER: 01676 522754

FISHING REPORT – WEEK ENDING 25/3/18

Last week 41 rods caught 140 fish for an average of 3.41 per rod.

A better week which started off freezing cold but turned much milder as the week went on. We have seen plenty of fish moving on Cocks Close and they have been more widespread.

The best fish caught this week was a 5lb rainbow caught by Harold Pritchett of Atherstone who was fishing from a boat on Park Meadow and it was the best of an eight fish catch which came to a Cruncher pattern fished on a floating line. Paul Flanner of Worcester caught and returned 18 fish to 3½lb from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to a Damsel Nymph. Dave Bratby also fished catch and release this time from the bank of Cocks Close and caught 12 fish to 4lb and again Damsels were the best fly.

IT IS WITH REGRET THAT THE OWNERS OF PACKINGTON ESTATE HAVE DECIDED TO CLOSE THE DAY TICKET OPERATION AT THE TROUT FISHERY. OVER THE LAST 12 MONTHS A SHARP DECLINE IN ROD NUMBERS HAS LED TO THE OVERHEADS FAR OUTWEIGHING THE INCOME AND WITH NO IMPROVEMENT ENVISAGED WE HAVE BEEN FORCED TO MAKE THIS DECISION.

COCKS CLOSE WILL CLOSE ON SUNDAY 8th APRIL AND WILL FORM PART OF THE CARP SYNDICATE CURRENTLY ON BROADWATER AND BURNET POOLS.

CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE TROUT FISHERY WILL BE ABLE TO CONTINUE TROUT FISHING ON PARK MEADOW POOL UNTIL 31st MAY.
