greenhillParticipantJoshman, if the baits your useing through the warmer summer months are working, then stick with them.
Ask at your local tackle shops, other anglers about your chosen venue, baits and swims, and you wont go far wrong with local advice.
Now if you do wont a change bait, its a case of try and try again till you get results which could take time.
Summer time its maily darker, fish flaoured baits which catch you carp and other fish.
Fish flavoured pellets, high in beatin, fish flavoured boilies all work well, as they have a higher oil content.
I v done well at my local clubwater on tuttie frutie boilies, they have given me good results.
Rule of thumb, summer and just beyond, dark fish flavours, and winter, high visablity, bright coloured fruit flavoured baits, also cream flavours work well to.
Have you tryed the pellet on the hook and feed smaller pellets, pellet wag.
Remember fish,s metabliim is higher in the summer than is in the winter, so will feed more readly, they burn there energy routing around for food, so there are pure scoffing machines, who will mop a lot of food up.
As i said, i like tuttie fruttie boilies, and as feed i make a simple mix up to feed with, and it consists of, tin of tuna, sweet corn, hemp seed, broken peices of boilie, beatin pellets, dusted with ground pellets, white and brown crumb, this is so they dont dissolve my P.V.A mesh and bag, if im fishing closer in.
But this depends on how far i fish, somtimes i,ll caty this feed out this way.
So josh, try fish flavours through the warmer summer months, good luck and hoped this has helped a little .john~think ~think ~think -

greenhillParticipantRight joshman, everyone has there base mix, and theypay a packet for them, and anyone else who reads this will disagree with this base mix?
But its cheap, and has worked for me,
Start making boilies in small amount,s to start with, in case you may mistakes which you may do, we all did when starting out.
8 oz, of Powdered Semolina..
4 oz, of Ground White Rice..
4 oz,, of Soya Flower..As this is a pound base mix, you need 4 medium eggs..
This how to make them…
Get four eggs, carck into bowle, and beat slowly and just a little, to much and boilies could become pop up,s because to much air in them, to this to this add , 5 ml of your chosen colour, and add 5 ml chosen flavour, and 2 ml of sweetner, add all the liquids together. The base mix, each measure of indrigant put into a plaggie bag, and when you,v measured the three powders out and put in the same bag, give a good shake to compleatly mix powders together.
Now put a small amount of the powder base mix into the liquid mix, just some, mix slowly together and leave this for a good five minute, this so flavour and colour absorbes.
After five minutes slowly add the remeainder of the powdered base mix, bit by bit , untill you,v used it all up, now the mix should be very stiff to fork together, it,s time to get your hands in and give it a good mix together.
You should have something which is like kids play doe.Next, split the ball of mix, put one to the side till later, with the onw ball, split again into two, get one and roll on the work top into a long sassauge shape, useing a knife, cut along the lenth to form small er bit, pick one up and roll into your palm of your hand to create the boilie shape, repeat the process with all the mix.
Get a pan of water, and bring to the boile, a old chip pan is better, as you have sive to use to lift out the balls safely.
Work with about twenty balls at atime, and put into boiling water for 2 mins, but keep a eye on the time, the longer you leave them the harder they become.
Onced boiled, place on to a tea towle to get the excess water off, leave to dry overnight and air dry.
Then bag up and date and mark in a resaelable zip or container, last two to thre days , if not used starigh off freez, they will last 3 months in freezer.
Hoped this helped , good luck.
