From horror to happiness!

That’s how I would describe my last trip to the mysterious Cassien this February together with my friend Jan-Simon Saamen. Well motivated we started off in the evening and were perfectly in time in the morning, a few kilometres south of Lyon, when our car broke down! What the f…! To keep it short: A service wagon picked us up we had to spend a sleepless night in the dirtiest hotel I had ever seen, it took them one and a half days to repair our red dragon (a Peugeot kind of older than your grand-grand-mother) and we arrived at Cassien in total darkness. Two nights lost, two nights without fishing. On our first swim we blanked two nights, but celebrated my birthday with a good meal and more wine. On these days I could observe two good carp swimming in a little bay and gave them some DD Bait Tigernuts which they took with no hesitation. On the third morning a mild mistral wind blew in to that bay signaled us: Time to move! I placed a rod where I saw the fish and it took a minute till it was off: 16kg mirror! Yes! But nothing more happened the night, nor the next night. We moved again, blanked again. Then, for the last five nights we got the swim we wanted from the start. Two friendly German guys fished it for one and a half weeks with only two fish to show. It took us 48 hours to understand the swim (thank you Meik for that one tip!) and then we gave them our DD Bait Midi Mix Boilies without Flavour but with Liquid Sweetner and 20% Liverpowder! In our last three days we had no less than 19 runs and 18 fish with two old Cassien originals above 20kg, a 19,5kg and a few more above 15kg+ quite a few of those hand selected fully scaled mirror carp! A winter-trip to remember for sure and a recipe to remember too!
