The European Beach Championships – the biggest two day sea fishing match in Europe – has been booked for Saturday March 7th and Sunday March 8th, 2009, and will be covered by OnlineFishing.tv’s forthcoming Sea Watch UK series.
The event, formerly the British Open Beach Championships, is now in its 16th year and takes place along a 40-mile stretch of East Yorkshire coast, with a minimum of 1200 competitors from the UK and Europe expected to attend.
The 2008 event saw a record number of large fish caught with the winning fish going over 10lb.
Match HQ will be South Cliff Caravan Park and Makis Bar/Nightclub on the south side of Bridlington, with the permitted fishing zone starting at Bridlington and finishing at Spurn Point on the Humber estuary.
The 2009 event will also see a tackle fair with a number of exhibitors and a structured programme of events including question and answers with professional anglers and casting demonstrations from the 2008 world casting champion.
