you may have read in the IOW county press or have been told of a serious break-in and robbery at ‘Scotties’,Sandown.
Thieves, last week used oxyacetylene blow torches to break into the shop and stole over £6,000 of quality tackle and over a further £2000 of damage to the premises.
Whilst i am sure we would would all offer our commissarations and support to Scotties at this time.
If anyone hears of, is offered any fishing tackle that sounds suspicious to ring and let John or Alan know(Tel.(01983) 522115).
Can i remind all that John Copeland is the long serving president of the IWFAA, and Alan Bravery has helped anglers of all the isle of wight and particuarly the Island Sea angling community, indeed without ‘Scotties’ – it is difficult to envisage the freshwater and sea scene in its current regular numbers of anglers without scotties – so keep a watchful ear and eye out if offered suspicious sea fishing tackle, particuarly penn and abu multipliers and greys rods and lets hope some of the stolen items can be recovered.

Every year for the past 3 or 4 I’ve had a few days away with some mates, fishing the island with a local lad we know who’s a bit of a top specimen hunter on the beach front.

A trip to Scotties is always on the agenda. It’s a proper tackle shop, and the blokes in there are real gents.

It’s a shame it’s happened to them, and lets hope the theiving scum that did it get caught.
