Site Speed…

  Please bear with us on site speed – I know that some people are having problems with loading time.
  
  Without boring you too much it’s to do with inefficient indexing inherited from the old web company. It means that the whole database of some 60,000 threads is being searched which is not at all necessary and is being worked on over the next ten days. We are also working on a cache system which will see pages loading much more quickly.
  
  So, sorry about the slowness but please stick with us!

  It’s needs something doing and 10 days is too slow. For me it takes 20 times longer to load than any other site I use.

  It doesn’t for me Squatt it takes about three seconds to load a page, but I know it takes ages for some of you which is why I am getting the work done. The problem basically is the number of threads on TF so it’s a victim of its own success, but it’s the way they are indexed or rather should be and are not. The plan is that a new indexing system that means it’s searching a limited number of queries and a caching system that means you are not re-loading images as well as text will mean a big improvement in speed. Ten days is too long and don’t worry I am pushing for it to be much quicker but don’t want to promise something that won’t be delivered. I have a lot of confidence in the new guys and have a lot of plans for the site that I could never have achieved with the old web company due to their ridiculously high costs. It’s frustrating at the moment but please stick with it.

  Should me much faster for everyone now.
  
  It would be silly to delete the threads the site would lose Google links. But they can be indexed so it’s not searching all of them.
  
  I got that wrong to be honest, its’ more like 180,000.
