TF_herbieon match of the day last night it took the interviewer several attempts to explain that you cant be offside for an own goal. the manager answered several times that rooney interfered with the defender when clearly he was nowhere near him. why and i include all of them do they have to openly tell lies in front of the camera when the viewer has already seen ten replays from every angle. are they all stupid or do they assume we are?????.~think ~think ~think

TF_NW Cut AnglerI am a Man U fan and he wasn’t lying. I have also played the game to a decent level and like many would argue that if you are on the pitch you are affecting play. Unfortunately the rules now say otherwise.
I thought the manager was fair in what he said actually. I would haver liked to see him support Fletcher re the second booking which IMO was a joke and dareIsay it his own player could have / should have stayed on his feet.
Ultimately though, Birmingham could have beaten us and this Man U team is poor compared to previous seasons. Retaining 30+ players goes against why we were successful and we badly need a genuine striker and a world class midfielder. There are too many ‘average’ players in the present Man U team.

TF_NW Cut AnglerJust to add this is the poorest Premiership for as long as I can remember. Only Chelsea are producing a consistently high standard and will win the Prem easily IMO. Man U, Arsenal and Liverpool are terribly inconsistent and the only reason the teams below are threatening the top 4.

TF_herbiewe play to the current rules not what they used to be. there the same rules for everyone. it took the manager 5 attempts to aknowlege the referee was right. this is now the norm amongst managers. fletcher was sent off for bad mouthing the ref in the first half. stupid boy have you ever seen a referee change his mind by being abused by a kid. im 60 and ive never seen one. by showing the public this complete disregard for the truth they set the example for the rest of us. bart simpson syndrome ” i didnt do it”. take the ball tampering in africa. anderson clearly is picking at the ball and the other prat puts his spikes on it. what are we told ” they didnt do it” even though we all saw it they still maintained that line. what a wonderful example that sets to our youngsters. do anything you want then tell everyone ” wasnt me i didnt do it”

Very true, an inconsistent teams is usually a poor team.
The standard is poor and for me it just isn’t as enjoyable to watch now.
I used to watch virtually every televised game, I don’t watch anything like the same amount and if I do start to watch I very often turn over as it’s not entertaining.Maybe it’s because they have to win cos of the money. The best competitions ( FA Cup)are being devalued due to an elite few teams who have to get into the champs league . All this squad rotation I can’t understand, the poor souls get tired if they play too often. Be interesting to see how many games Liverpool/ Leeds etc ( even my lot Derby!!) played in the 70’s and how many players they used.
Anyway, the fun just seems to have dissapeared from the game, which at the end of the day is all it is, a game for public entertainment, not life or death

Man Utd fans claiming the premiership is the poorest for a while ….. what a joke !!! If it werent for THAT 98th minute winner againt city you would just be hanging on to fouth place now ! The premiership has become more competitive and for me and lots of others that is only a good thing, the so called “Top 4” arent having things all their own way for once in a long long time and the excuses coming out are unbelievable ! Try giving teams like Fulham, Birmingham, Villa, Spurs and City some credit …… IT AINT ALL ABOUT MAN UTD ~naughty ~naughty ~naughty

TF_caster robParticipantPremier league’s been sh*t since it started IMO.
Champions league the same.Neither were as good as the things they replaced – 1st Division/European Cup.
They’re more like TV series than sporting events.

TF_Mikey .J.I’ve heard some crap in my time Roger but that just about tops it. I believe its a combination of factors as to why the top four arent dominating this season. United have had a ridiculous amount of injuries in defence and need to sign a creative world class midfielder. Arsenal have lost Adebuyeur and Van Persie is out. Liverpool stupidly let Alonso go. Chelsea still look strong. Combine that with the fact that Tottenham, Villa and City have all progressed has left things lot tighter. If Arsenal hadnt lost there strike force and United hadnt had so many injuries. The premiership would look nothing like what it does now. As for owens goal it was in the 96 min i think you’ll find. If your stupid team didnt spend so long celebrating there goal then the time wouldnt have been added. If you watched MOTD after the game they showed that the added time wasnt far off at all. Get over it. You’ll always be the 2nd best team in Manchester and you will probably have a dosen managers in the next decade.

:)Flatcher was sent off for a second bookable offence so your premise that he was sent off for bad mouthing the referee is incorrect. You will also note I said the rules allow you to be in an ‘offside’ position and the goal to stand. I think what the manager, players and even the referee were confused about was the incorrect signals by the linesman. If you think pressurising referees and non match officials does not achieve it’s goal then where have you been for the last 50+ years? Anybody and everybody knows that big named clubs / managers often get treated more favourably than lower league / no name clubs and players. Moreover, cheating has always taken place and oddly it had no influence upon the moral fibre of society. Bodyline? Nobby Stiles? Ron Harris? Tommy Smith? Norman Hunter, Vinny Jones? Roy Keane?

Chelsea are undoubtedly the best team in the Premiership. The fact Man Utd are so high reflects how poor the standard is. I enjoy watching Arsenal but their team is simply not as effwective as past teams. Birmingham? If Carr exemplifies the quality. Heaven help us.
As it currently stand we lag behind the best in the Spanish league and they are signing the best players. Champions League? returns to Spain unless a Premiership club gets lucky.

Lol well I cannot agree with BoB but I am not getting into it. I think diving has not become more common place but in terms of cheating. It has always existed and always shall.

TF_Gary the gudgeonMaybe managers who now have to have coaching qualifications to manage in the Premiership should also be compelled to take a Referee’s course.

TF_herbiesorry colin. nw we are talking about me me clatenburgh. fletcher gave him a hard time 1st half then commited two fouls and was off. dodge dont get bitter about losing to the champions after 6 minutes injury time like the man said they proved the ref right, no hiding nowadays. same as the 6 mins at birmingham quite correct, uniteds goal took 3 mins to sort out plus 4 subs and a sending off. as for the quality in the prem???? teams lower than 6th place have worked out that if you put ten men behind the ball and work hard you will sometimes pinch a result. apart from chelsea who,s players stupidly told the rest the title was there,s before xmas therefor making teams play much harder against them, the other big three have been decimated with injuries to key players. how many clubs could lose there entire defence and still remain in the title race?? or imagine what arsenal would be like with a fully fit team. as for the spanish they play in a two team micky mouse league much like celtic and rangers. even west ham would look good in that league.

TF_GaryThere have been more goals in the Premier League this season (so far) than any previous one. That is enough to suggest to me that it is a pretty exciting and entertaining league this year. Referees being useless and Fergie whinging are two things that have definitely not been unique to this season.
I do not think Chelsea will run away with it like people seem to think. They are very reliant on three or four key players, all of whom are the wrong side of 30 and hence vulnerable to injury and fatigue.
Man U have been poor for the last 4 years – God knows how they have kept winning the league. I think it was mainly because they had a fairy dancing around on the right wing and smashing in 40 goals a season. He is no more.
Arsenal are the dark horses – if they can win at places like Bolton and Stoke in January, which has been their weakness in recent years, then write them off at your peril. Having said that, their fixtures in February will not make for pleasant reading for Wenger (Villa, Man U, Chelsea, Liverpool, Porto).
