I know you can catch roach shallow on maggot & caster at most venues in the winter but has anyone experienced proper shallow fishing for carp in the winter ? I know they sit mid depth but I can never catch em what about everyone else ?

at the willows near york we used to snare some massive weights fishing shallow, used to feed 3-4 pints of maggots too. in fact u saw bigger weights in winter than summer lolol

I quite often catch up off the deck in the winter, if it’s where the fish want to be than you’ll catch more of them there! Some days I’ve caught nearly all my fish ‘up’ and some days you won’t get a bite doing it. I have to admit to always having a rig up to try it!
