      tricky

        National for anglers with disabilaties;

        2009 COSTS £400 Teams of 10 = £40 per angler

        2010 COSTS £320 Teams of 6 = £53+ per angler

        Why is there an increase of £13+ to each angler, which equates to an increase of over 30%.

        I’ve not had an increase of over 30% in my income and I don’t think many other people will have (unless they are directors of a failed bank), so how can the Angling Trust justify this increase??????

            So does that mean that every national has gone up by over 30% to the individual angler.

            Oh and I forgot to say sent the Angling Trust an e-mail on Saturday to ask the same question and as of now they have not replied!!!

            Why am I not surprised.

              Tricky, have you got a breakdown of that figure you’ve quoted?

              IE How much is membership fees, pools, day ticket/pegging cost, etc, etc.

              tricky

                Steve the breakdown I have is;

                2009
                TEAM ENTRY £150
                TEAM POOLS £ 50
                IND SEC & POOLS £20 PER ANGLER (x10) = £200

                TOTAL = £400

                MAXIMUM OF 8 TEAMS ALLOWED

                2010
                TEAM ENTRY £150
                TEAM POOLS £ 50
                IND SEC & POOLS £20 PER ANGLER (x6) = £120

                TOTAL = £320

                MAXIMUM OF 14 TEAMS ALLOWED

                I believe the Team Entry £150 goes on pegs fees and admin etc.

                So if you look at 2009 MAX 8 TEAMS = £1200
                and 2010 MAX 14 TEAMS = £2100

                My oh my haven’t admin cost gone up drastically

                Also individuals have to pay £20 to join the Angling Trust to be able to fish in a Team event!!!!!

                  Individuals have had to be NFA/AT individual members for a few years now to fish Nationals so there’s nothing new there.

                  Part of the £150 entry fee I’m sure will be the club’s membership fee to the AT [don’t forget not all member clubs are small matchgroups] and pools are optional so it’s a question of fishing for greed or glory but it certainly needn’t be as expensive as you originally quoted!

                  The trouble is match fishing at that level [especially on commercials where a large chunk of money goes on day tickets] will always be an expensive day so you either take the plunge and go for it or accept that actually winning even a section medal at a National is something loads of anglers will never achieve and take pride from that instead of worrying how much money can be won.

                  The Div.2 National cost me over £150 last year but for me it’s a one-off and worth it and I’ll keep hoping for that once in a lifetime draw where I can pick up a medal of any description – a few hundred quid winnings would soon be spent but a National medal is for life – but then I might just be old-fashioned and out of touch!

                    I get what you are saying regards costs, but the £150 definitely does NOT include any monies for Team Membership, that is paid seperately by the affiliated clubs.

                    To be honest the real issue here is the actual Hike Up in the costs per angler, as even you must agree that a 30% rise is alittle bit too much to accept.

                    Especially when you read my first line of my first post again “NATIONAL FOR ANGLRS WITH DISABILITIES” people who generally are on Benefits and therefore LIMITED INCOMES.

                      Price increase is due to the chancellors increase on wines & spirits , champagne for the top table isn’t cheap nowadays .

                        £73 to join and fish you’d be better to join the ABC club at least you’ll get something back and the chance to win £50k , I really would like to know who is running the AT strategy at the moment because it just seems to be a case of stinging the members for as much as possible .

                            I sent AT several emails going back as far as the beginning of November last year – all asking for details about entering a team in this year’s Div 2 National.

                            We wanted the costs and the rules so a match group could decide whether to do it.

                            Needless to say, I’ve never heard a word from AT, so we won’t be entering a team.

                            Oh, and AT won’t be getting a renewal from me this year – they can’t run a tap, never mind a national organisation.
