TF_Staff BullHi guys, ive finally took the plunge and swapped my Tourney Pro for a Super G10. The reason was i was fed up of the Pro coming apart during shipping out even though i had twisted it when putting it together and also it was really sticky from no 7 downwards when shipping, other than that i couldnt fault it. Now the golden question, what are your thoughts on the G10, is it better than the Pro, and is it as strong.
Thanks in advance.
I just hope this is a decision i dont regret haha.

TF_Fred Davisstronger and stiffer than the pro, however i hear of more breakages, can be a pig in the wind as it’s so stiff, also heavier which is where you get the strength from, I find the garbos top heavy, however all poles have their pro’s and cons. I don’t think there is a badly made top end pole it just depends what your preffered features are

TF_C.A.T.C.H.ParticipantNot had any problems with mine, touch wood, and its very stiff mate.
A pain in the wind due to this fact.
Not got any of those new Competition/Match/Power lite top kits and been thinking of having a few wrapped and drilled for side pulla kits.
Very good pole and let us know how it compares to the Pro for you.

TF_cheffieVRSParticipantYes mate, It would cost me to much to go down the new Gmax 1000 route, due to the spares i have, my mate is ordering another G10 also.

TF_Mike HerringtonI have used a G 10 since they came out and I have red hydro through the power kits and have used it at Woodlands up in water and down edge catching doubles and also at Viaduct.
If it is elasticated right, it will do just about anything (I wouldn’t put mine in a snag pit – have a powermaxim for that) you ask of it.
Stiffer than a pro, heavier though, but in a wind a heavier pole can be a bonus.
I have fished mine at 17.5m.
Hope this helps.

TF_MatchcarpYou will still run the risk of joints parting, this can happen when constantly shipping in and out at longer lengths so keep an eye on it – I have had mine since they were first released (is that 2 or 3 years now?) – No problems what so ever, no breakages accidental or otherwise and only used on Carp venues, some big carp venues as well, no fears at all – You wont be disapointed just sick you stuck with the pro for so long – Enjoy ~clap

pigslayerif you only ever fish at 13m or less and are lucky enough to never fish in any sort of wind, you will love it,other wise you will want your pro back.candle wax on the male end sections stops them coming apart.

TF_C.A.T.C.H.ParticipantStaff Bull,
Dont be to concerned by others comments. The pole is very good and you will decide at the end of the day after youve used it and got used to its good and bad points.
Best pole Ive ever had.T.

TF_matchpleasureI have had the pro for approx 18 months and have never had a problem with it whatsoever.I’ve landed carp to 16lbs on it a larford with no probs. Its obviously a personal thing but the way people talk about the pro on this thread, would have people believe its crap…not the case and its easily fishable if not more fishable at 17.5 meters than the g10. 1 thing i would say is that spares are said to take longer to come than spares from daiwa take to arrive.~think

I agree mate, ive always liked Daiwa but just wanted a change, apart from the shipping aspect the Pro is awesome. And if i dont like the G10 then it will be up for sale or swap, AGAIN haha.

-
27/01/2010 at 12:41 pm #91243
TF_makeri sold my G10 last year, only problem i found with it was its far too heavy at long lengths, ive gone back to daiwa now, much better balanced pole.

Didnt buy it did a straight swap for Pro, and im only askin questions about it because im curious of other peoples experience of the pole, so no i dont think its a bit late to be askin questions.
-
27/01/2010 at 3:25 pm #91265
TF_makerYes pal, got it off pat, cant see any difference between the power & the pro, just a different package, you should have kept that G10 you had off me, it was a minter.

27/01/2010 at 4:40 pm #91280
TF_Staff BullI didnt even get chance to use it Pete and the Pro came up, so i opted for Pro and moved the G10 on to get the Pro. So now im goin to give the G10 a go and see what happens.

I don’t see the point asking for other people’s opinion because one pole might feel different to the next person. Get out there anyway and try it. Btw my tourny kept coming apart for probably the first year i had it but never since.

Cant wait to get out with it now Tim_D, I understand what you mean about other peoples opinion, it seems like the Torney Pro V G10 thing will never come to an end. Ill give it a go and see what happens. Cheers.

pigslayerafter 13m it becomes too heavy, dont no if its a balance thing,or because its so stiff but you will notice a big difference from what your used to.the down force required by the elbow to keep it off the water is quite bad.even fishing at shorter lengths, the pole because its so ridgid is effected quite badly in the wind.fishing long in the wind, yes you would struggle with a pro but with the g10 you would either get spun off your box(if u no what i meen)or find it impossible.i witnesed this so many times when i had g10 which is why i got shut.after owning one for over two years i would say the g10 is an out n out big fish pole and handles double figure fish with ease, superb in summer when hopefully you are getting a few,but in winter or when not getting bites you dont want to be using a g10 long.will be good to hear what you think after you have used it.i dont have a pro by the way.

TF_nitroAll those saying the g10 is heavy must be incredibly weak is all i can say. Im all of 10 stone and its absolutley effortless to hold at 14.5m, and very slightly heavier than other top of the range poles at 16m BUT it is a whole METER longer than the pro and airity!!! Stick another section up the back of the pro and then tell me its lighter than the g10~naughty
-
27/01/2010 at 8:28 pm #91355
TF_Staff BullCheers for that nitro, im 15 and 1/2 stone(not fat i must add), so it shouldnt be a problem. Cheers for your input mate.

TF_Staff BullOk lads here we go, used the G10 for the first time on sat, fished 14.5mtr most of the day with a side wind and have to say the pole was awesome, a lot stiffer than my Pro but granted it did feel a bit heavier at that length and a bit harder to hold in the wind, but nothing to dramatic. The G10 did in my opinion feel stronger than my Pro and without a doubt it is a lot easier to ship. I could never say the Pro was a bad pole coz it wasnt, in fact i loved it apart from the shipping qualaties but i have to say the G10 in my opinion feels every bit as good as Pro to fish with. The only things i could say the G10 had the upper hand over the Pro were its stiffer and it shipped better, other than that i personnally dont think there is too much between the two poles.
-
03/02/2010 at 12:52 am #92531
TF_Team RattlerHad my G10 for over 2 years now and it does everything from No3 elastic to 18 solid when needed. Haven’t used my power legion for 2 years now and while ever spares are available I’ll stick with the G10. I don’t think i’ll ever be in a position where my ability will outfish the pole!

snaggerFred, cheffie, and mike are spot on the pole is mega stiff well usable at extreme lengths and very strong know a few lads that use it at Larford biggest one out by a mate of mine 18lb, taking some power tops off mine to have the side pullers done tomorrow, carbon wrap job with the ptfe bush in the side.

TF_Baku BlankerParticipantI have fished it up to 20m can;t understand why people think its bad in the wind its no worst than any other pole all poles are awkard in the wind as for the pro i have fished longer lengths than people around me that have pro’s in the wind.Bring on the G max 1000 cant wait to get my hands on one. ~clap ~clap ~clap
