If you had £1,000 to spend on a new pole for commercial fishing what would you go for? Plenty of them out there!

If i only had a grand for a pole, i would never ever buy new, i would look out for a second hand top of the range, plenty out there.

Likewise. My problem is that like most things, poles are just put together to fit into price ranges and market places and that often means a compromise.

I’d go second hand all the way as well – i would look for an established “name” off a site like this to get some comfort and peice of mind in the pole and the person selling it. I have only ever had 1 second hand pole and that was off here. Great deal, great pole, loads of extras and a decent bloke flogging it to boot – Plenty of em out there!!

have a look at the new garbolino gmax700 it is a superb pole strong, stiff and fishable long.it comes at 16.4metres and the new type top kits need no cutting back for elastic up to a size 10.
you will be very impressed, much better than lots of poles costing more.

Johnny Mac, i think the place selling the Garbolino 995 for £995 was Angling Direct. Brilliant pole

Cheers Tongey, you’re right it is brilliant! Wouldn’t swap mine for any other pole (and I’ve tried most), suits me perfectly.

Yep totally agree the G995 is a good bit of kit only gripe i have against mine is that its short once no1’s are taken out but hey its still alot longer than alot out there once they take no 1’s out also. Some one said to a quote on another thread not to get one as they are old and spares would be a problem in the future. As its built on the ‘G’ mandrel sections will be readily available for a long time i think.
