When a section 30 has been issued for the movement of fish, is it valid for a period of time? or is it valid for a day, a week, a month??????

you would normally state on the form the proposed date you will move the fish.
however from past experience if you are buying from a farm they will be a bit flexible with this.

Thanks for the reply mart. Flexible?? How flexible is flexible?? I know you have to state a date, but can you still move outside of the nominated date legally?

Pad – just checked with an approved Section 30 consultant (he’s licensed to issue the section 30)and he’s confirmed that the section 30 is valid for a period of 6 months from issue for any fish movement from the water on which it has been approved.

              Good news.

OneT – this falls in line with what i had been told, but having personally never applied for one, i was a bit dubious. This 6 month span will help with what i am checking out with the mover/supplier as a section 30 has previously been applied for.

As you say – good news – Not so PIE in the sky!!

It may be valid for 6 months, but they need a date you are doing the movement. If your not sure, you still need to pick a date, and if that changes, just call them and tell them the new date.

paddy, make sure you contact them about the movement,i got a right bollocking off our local ea officer when we had some come to us a few years ago.
a section 30 might have been issued for whoever is supplying the fish, but you will still need permission from the ea to stock them at your location.
the ea might send an officer out to witness the movement.

                      Nige/Mart, thanks.
I am aware that you have to ring if the delivery date is moved/changed. Rest assured that this would be the case.
Just got to get the date now and then let’s get em moved!!
