TF_stu.sOnly 10 sections at 16.2 m? is this a first or have they done away with the usual number one section?
Sounds pretty impresive from the weight figures too.~think -
01/02/2010 at 3:48 pm #92121
TF_craigmYes i’ve been told they have stopped production of the G10 and the new Gmax 1000 is on the same mandrel as the others in the Gmax range so only the top kits will fit from the old range. I also believe the new 1000 is heavier than the G10 by about 70g.
I think there may be an opening here for a Garbolino back support. -

01/02/2010 at 4:55 pm #92130
TF_youngyso they bring the G10 out and say ” its the best pole ever” then they stop making sections for it?…Very poor from Garbolino imo. i have a G10, only bought it last year. I was under the impression that it would be supported for at least the next 5 years.
Maybe time to move to a different make pole, with better support!! -
01/02/2010 at 5:04 pm #92134
TF_neil gYoungy who said they are stopping making sections for G10.
They will be stocking G10 sections for the for see able future.
You can still get secions for Garbolino Poles that were stopped being current models after 5years within 5 days of ordering.I have just ordered a 13 mtr section for a g995 and recieved it within 4 day Weds – Monday -
01/02/2010 at 5:11 pm #92138
TF_Joe Carassdid they really need to make anything stiffer than the G10??? surely making something stiffer will cause more breakages??? i broke mine so many times and i just put it down to the fact tht it was too stiff, got a much softer pole now and had no problems whatsoever???
-
01/02/2010 at 5:37 pm #92140
TF_neil gYoungy just spoke to Darren Cox this min and he asures me they will still be supplying and making sections for the G series for the next 7-9 years. period
-
01/02/2010 at 6:53 pm #92151
TF_baitchefParticipantDont tell me…..its lighter, stiffer, stronger and better balanced. LOL.
-
01/02/2010 at 6:54 pm #92153
tournament_proI agree with the stiffness comment.
For big fish I think the G10 was too brittle, no give at all. I know a few people who’ve broken them a few times.
TPro might not be worlds stiffest pole but after 5 years and an odd fish, its never given me a minutes trouble.
Dave Brettle loves Garbolino LOL
-
01/02/2010 at 6:59 pm #92158
TF_MatchcarpWe are starting the old chestnuts again who’s pole is best – If you want one, buy one – If your preference is for another manufacturer then stick with them – Simple – I’m sure Garbolino will have done their homework and no matter how good bad or indifferent people find it you can be sure of one thing – They will sell a boat load and I’ll be one of them in that que ~clap
-
01/02/2010 at 7:06 pm #92161
TF_Joe Carassnot slagging anything just asking if they really need a pole stiffer than a g10???
-
01/02/2010 at 7:08 pm #92162
TF_Baku BlankerParticipanttournament pro I have my G10 since they came out and had carp to 20 lb on it, and never broke a section. ~think
-
01/02/2010 at 7:11 pm #92164
TF_Joe Carassto be fair tho catching carp aint a test these days is it, u lift the pole a fraction, keep the pole low use elastics tht stretch well, ship back over 2 rollers etc i never evert had a problem with mine when carping, it was fantastic for tht, but take it on a deep venue like the don or the stainy tht i fish a lot and the 11,13 and 14.5m sections just surrendered on the strike. must be due to how stiff it is.
-
01/02/2010 at 7:39 pm #92178
tournament_proExactly, carp fishing with hollow elastic these days hardly exerts any force on the pole. Striking is minimal and only the top kits see any real pressure
if the 11,13 14.5m sections are falling in half then thats not good as it would do your head in.
Always remember watching a bob nudd video fishing in Ireland, he said he doesnt use his best pole when fishing 11m to hand as it doesnt have any give and would blow up
PS Am not slagging garbolino off either, just making a point that the G10 is as stiff a pole as anyone would ever want.
Matchcarp – I was actually thinking of getting one if its as good as it sounds, ill let you lot test it first
-
01/02/2010 at 7:41 pm #92179
TF_diddy123i have never had a section go striking on deep venues ie glos cut(12-15ft)or local rivers and lakes and i’m a animal with my gear.
before any of u say i’m just saying it coz i’m sponsered by them, i always use my kit and if it failed i would be the first to moan. -
01/02/2010 at 7:57 pm #92185
TF_Mike HerringtonG10 wanted…no need for top kits, you can use them for the GMAX1000.

am on my 3rd TPro cheeky sod! lol
keep selling them off as individual sections and getting a ‘new’ second hand one. Deffo best way to do it! I got £1300 for my old one in total and as a pole itself it was prob worth about 600 it was a bit carnaged.
-
01/02/2010 at 10:50 pm #92251
TF_mp.miloSo what effect does using a pole support have,if you are fishing 16mtrs and have 15.5 mtrs in front of you resting on a 1″ piece of metal. The pressure on that piece of carbon must be immense.
I had a cm90 years ago and broke 3 14,5 sections and 1 no 13 mtr sect in the space of 3 weeks, all of them just snapped clean in half, the 13 mtr section went while cupping in.Rest of the pole was as solid as a rock.Never had it before with a pole and never had it happen since.

They may have a layer of foam on them but under that is metal.you probably put a lot more pressure on your pole by elbow striking at 14-16m than using pole rests, they are quite well padded

Its a pig in the wind mind but what pole isnt.
If the new pole is stiffer, lighter, stronger, better balanced. Then all I can suggest is sell your poles as this baby musy be THE pole to have.
But dont Maver say all this S**T every year when they bring out a NEW range of BETTER than before poles. LOL.T.

TF_piperpilotI’d personally like to see the G Max 1000 up against the Pro X which I rate 100%. Shame that only the G Max and G10 top kits interchange but maybe now we’ll see a few G10 sections being sold off for spares,
