hello all, just wonderd what your views are on moon phases and does it effect fish feeding?I personally think that during a full moon and a couple of days before and after really do in a bad way. This is totally opposite to what the Angling Times says or is it all Bulls**t?

i think i’m right in saying there are good periods of a couple of hours per day in the two days leading up to the full moons and new moons.
there is a very detailed website called moonstrike i think.

I know from experience when night fishing that a full moon was always the kiss of death. My mate at work is a Carper and he says he trys to avoid a full moon at all costs.I was on holiday on the Broads a couple of years ago and just started fishing as it got dark i had 2 Bream then the moon came out and i never had another bite in 2 hours.

Mad, mad you are just a load of lunatics!

How on earth can a lump of rock 238,855 miles away affect the fishing down at my local pit? That is of course as long as it stays 238,855 miles away!

Mind you, how could it affect the sea or the human brain come to that.

Chris Lyons of moonstrike has made a long study of the moon and its effect on the earth and things like fishing and weather patterns. He maintains that there is a very strong link and that is backed up by his diary findings. As dirkdiggler says, the findings show that it isn’t for the whole day of the full and new moons but when the moon is rising that a window of opportunity opens. That may be mid afternoon, I think.

~think ~think i find it interesting as i follow the moon and at its fullest the fishing is often poor and the carp lads don’t seam to be on the bank either it does effect the tides so it must do something to the fish whether they go into hiding as it must be like a 24 hours of day light
but saying that the stainy fished well again for roach at the weekend ~think ~think ~think
