TF_DishyfishFished there last Sunday with my mate! Cut a long tide short lol. It did not fish very well! Colour good but flow very quick. Alot quicker than when I was there last. Had one chewed maggot, my mate lost one and that was it. Once some settled weather comes I will be back there. You have to check out some of them female rowers!! Some of them have really big…….. Muscles.

andypalfParticipantI’ve just started fishing Hamemrsmith/Chiswick. Only had my first session and went biteless. Must admit it’s pretty daunting compared to the 2 acre lakes I usually fish!

TF_DishyfishAndypalf stick with it you will get your rewards. I have not fished that bit for a long while, but if there is fish to be had at Putney they will be there to. It can be daunting, especially when those big boats go past, and the wake they cause. I normally wade out to just below the knee! That way you can use that as a marker to follow the tide and fish out. Persevere and you will catch, but maybe wait for some settled weather and the flow to drop off a bit. Good luck and tight lines ~clap

andypalfParticipantI’ll keep at it for sure. From speaking with a few about fishing that stretch many have also advised waiting for the tides to drop a bit let things calm down. Hopefully at the end of the month with a rise in water temp will get the fish showing. Where abouts are you fishing Putney? PM is prefered, or not at all if you want to keep it a secret of course. I lived there for several years but never had a go, only just decided to have a crack at the river this year.

TF_DishyfishBrian your waiting for a wrap round are you not?? andypalf its bang opposite FULHAM FOOTBALL CLUB lol. sorry the MIGHTY FULHAM FOOTBALL CLUB lol. I used to fish it right by the bridge, on a really low tide, you can actually trot against the second sanction of the bridge! Had many a good day there, but with some of the youth today! Fishing there is not a good idea unless you want to have stuff thrown at you. I remember a few years back, one man waiting for a bus mnissed four buses while watching me. I knew it was four because he told me. He was fascinated watching me catching these fish, that he did not want to go home.
So now I fish further up away from the crowds, apart from a Fulham home game. “Im waiting for it Brian” lol. andypalf I will be in touch maybe we can get up there before the season ends. I did hear one bit of disturbing news! There was a load of the black death positioned at Wandsworth. And for anglers in the know, that was or still is was the main breeding grounds for the vast shoals of dace that populated that part of the Thames!! Please someone correct me if Im wrong.

TF_steve rDishy, I would be very very surprised if the Dace bred in a tidal stretch as they tend to favour fast, shallow gravels. more likely they breed in the tributaries and filter down into the main river as they grow older.
By the way it’s a bridge stanchion not sanction!
And, finally, you can’t have ‘Fulham FC’ and ‘Crowds’ in the same sentence as they contradict each other. LOL.

andypalfParticipantVery interesting Dishy, who’d of thought it was right under my nose all that time. The only fishy area that I’ve come across between Hammerwmith and Chiswick is Chiswick Ait and the half-submerged trees near Hammersmith Bridge. And it definately sounds like Dace is the main target before Barnes railway bridge.
Proper Tidal Boy, we actually met a couple years ago. I’m a BMAPS member and we had a quick chat on the extention. Hope you’re well mate, haven’t seen you down at Shadwells since. -

TF_DishyfishI stand corrected thankyou Mr R. It was just that a few years back I was told that, because its near where the River Wandle entered the Thames and thats where the dace used to conjugate around there. Now it seems to be just cormorants ~naughty
I also cant belive I failed the Total fishing forum spelling competition!! Go to the bottom of the class. I’ve seen worst on here though!! Are you a Eton boy lol.
OFF THE REST ON THE FULHAM CALL !! ~clap ~clap

TF_PikeyI remember a club match at Richmond years ago when Pete Turnbull fished right next to the bridge and some little oik poured a bottle of milk over him from above ! Nobody laughed…………much.

the rowing tottie are not all bad, my mate hooked one of those 2 seater things, couple of uni type girlies, we moaned at them for ruining our fishing managed to get a date taking them both out after they fiished their row, cut long story short we both ***** their brains out that night and swapped them around in the morning, beat the fishing, manage to miss the draw on the sunday team match that morning

TF_steve rDishy, I would guess the Wandle is probably where the Dace spawn then move out into the main river.
And yes, I was an Eton boy – The George, Crown & Cushion, College Arms, etc., were some of the places where I furthered my education. Schooldays were strictly spent in a Modern Comprehensive in Windsor though. LOL.

smallbreamboyAndy,
See you found the posts then mate. How did the session go you were going to have? Will have to get sorted in new season and have a few sessions on the stick as only have to jump on the 39 bus to take me to the river.

andypalfParticipantMark, yup I did find it. Picking up more and more info each day now. I never made it down for my session on Sunday. Such a shame as I prepped my kit and conditions looked pretty good, but I got sidetracked and talked into a lie in on Sunday (not that I’m complaining too much). So I’ll try again this weekend, I’ve got my fingers crossed that the clean up on that stretch of the Wandle has made a significant difference to the river as well as the bankside.
Dishy and PTB…a little social on the river pulling dace out sounds great. Count me in.
