~shh ~shh ~shh.Have just spoke to Mick Keeper,who whilst fishing on Sunday in a match organised by Terry Molloy caught a huge Perch.The fish weighed an incredible 5lb 2ounces,and was caught on a single caster,0.8 line,and size 20 hook.Mick thought he had hooked a Carp and gingerly took his time in landing the specimen.When it surfaced he was totally gobsmacked,and the other anglers,which included Steve Gardner remarked on his luck in landing a big Carp,when Silvers were the order of the day.When Mick told them it was a huge Perch they could not believe it.
Mick did catch another small Perch,but it was obvious that he wasnt going to catch any Roach from his “suicidal peg”,and at the weigh in it was clear he wasnt going to frame with his all round weight.However his peg was surrounded by fellow anglers at the whistle,who wanted to see the Perch and see the scales settle on its weight.
On seeing the somewhat “Jurasic” fish,many of the anglers were so amazed they could not speak.But “God”(Steve Gardner)remarked it was the biggest Perch he had ever seen in his life….Some comment when you think of all the places Steve has fished in his illustrious career.
It will be interesting to know if anyone out there has heard of anything as near to this weight ever being caught in a match.The fish was weighed on digital scales,and there are photographs winging there way to me as we speak,so i hope to show you as soon as i can this amazing capture.The fish was released obviously,but as Mick has said…”If only the bugger had had a couple of Roach for breakfast,it might,just might have been a record”……BRILLIANT.~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap ~clap
