Been fishing over the last few days and find that when retrieving the feeder the hooklength is all spun up and kinked!
is there anyway to avoid this??
baits are banded hard pellets and hair rigged corn/8mm boilie and the hook link is 12″ long

Also after a few fish the hair itself becomes bent out of shape

is there a way to avoid this?

        thanx mack

Use a small swivel on the hooklength to stop twist & use a whipped braid hair rig.

What diameter line are you using? 0.14 and upwards is perfect, doesn’t kink for me but below that and it does, that’s why i won’t go below 0.14 now. Perhaps shortening the hooklength to 8″ or even 6″ could help, try it.

With the hair going out of shape, slip on a piece of silicone, just a small piece just at the end of the shank, this solves the problem. The Wilkie silicone is the best for the job as it’s thick so the line won’t cut through it as easy when catching regulary.

the hook link is 0.14 and higher m8
cant shorten the length as the fishery rules state 12″ minimum.
im thinkin it could be the way i attach it via a snap link?

Fair enough then. You could be right about the snap link, a lot of anglers use the korum quick change beads instead, very highly rated.

1 thing i have noticed is the twist dosent accure when a boilie is on the hair, but does with pellet and corn

thanx i will try the korum beads

Spin will be caused by the water resistance against pellet or corn but not as much with the boilie as it has a cleaner shape.

i,ve had the same problem, like you say not with boille, i now use dacron hair and i find retreiving slower helps avoid the problem

it probley the pripeler effect of the corn, try retreiving slower or use a small swivel that will spin with the corn and not twist the line

I used to get this, I found, as tintin stated, that a slower retrieve reall helped.

I’m interested in trying the braided hair. Does anyone have a link to show me how to tie it? Thanks.

No need to mess about with bits of silicon or braid hairs. Just put as many turns on the knotless knot as you possibly can, right down to the start of the bend, and it is problem solved.
