Ok fellas heres the sketch. I fish a venue where you can do a good bag of Skimmers if you get it right. Only i aint, as yet. The scenario is this, i feed micros and 4mm pellet and fish either 4mm banded or 4-6mm soft over the top. The swim will be like a jacuzzi and im getting plenty of indications ie the float will go right down to the tip then come back up. If i lift at these i get nothing also when the float does eventually go under i tend to bump them. I use either blue hydro or yellow middy, 0.10 line and an 18 B911. Any help would be great, ive tried fishin 2-3 inches over depth but still cant get it right. HELP ITS DOIN ME HEAD IN.

I wouldnt feed micros mate,Skimmers can become preoccupied on them, if i cant hook it i dont feed it.Stick to the 4mms and fish a 4mm expander over the top.
          Fish this at dead depth.
I would have another rig double bulked and fish it 3-4″ overdepth.
Try original preston 5,lovely elastic for skimmers.

Try the opposite, try shallowing up.

Skimmers tend to hang up above the feed and cause the symptoms you describe.

Just keep shallowing up inch by inch eventually you will get propper indications!!

Try going a couple of inches off the bottom and also fish a lighter hook, try Drennan Silverfish Pellet.
Also fish alighter elastic, less chance of bumping the fish. I would fish a Sensas Latex number 4.

I agree with what has been said above. Also, I would feed lots and infrequently rather than little and often. I have found that this often results in a ‘purple patch’, where you will bag up for a period and then when bites slow down, you know it is time to top up.

Put a bit of Paste on there gill feeding, failing that fish 3″ off bottom.

Groundbait or micros over silt can cause jacuzi bubbles, and you cant catch them!
As said, feed pellets, but fish dead depth still, but also have another line close in, on the slope, a few inches shallower, and you wont get the silt here, and catch more fish.
I agree, they can come off the bottom, but you can catch more on the bottom if you get it right.

also dont fish exactly were you fed go half a metre a way or a metre, it can be just the same when carp fishing but foul hookers

Its Conwy pellethead, its a superb little fishery in north wales, we have a winter league on there, its stuffed with Roach, Bream, F1s and proper Carp. Im currently in 4th place with 2 matches to go and have averaged 20lb of Roach every match since November but just think if i could get the Skimmers goin i could possibly double that and finish strong.

Feed 4mm expanders and fish same on a hook in the loop rig.

Watched the vid mate thanks, do you think that style of fishing works on most commercials or is it just Stafford Moor.

Stafford moor does have a prolific head of silvers. But so do most commercials, its just often a case that we don’t always target them. I am not sure if the approach in that video will work at your venue as its aimed at a big weight but the basic principles probably would and there are some good tips in that video that you might be able to use. Another approach on my local is to feed finely chopped meat, and small cubes on the hook. the skimmers love it.

Here here, commie skimmers think they are surface feeders sometimes as soon as it goes dodgy im off the deck, the tell tale is drop a small bomb on the same line no bite no liners they prolly come up
