Why not try the Guru 4lb if you are chucking that far but need to chuck further

After all it will have plenty of stretch in it if you are fishing that far

all of my rod and line work is done with maxima..i have no problems casting 60mtrs+ have you looked at you’re casting technique and rod..even you’re reel ?,makes a lot of difference~think

Shimano technium. great line, limited stretch which would be better for the distance you are fishing. You can get some 5.5lb bs at 0.14 diam which would also help for that distance.

There is nothing wrong with Daiwa Sensor.

What rod (length) and reel are you using?

Also what weight method feeder?

I messed around lots last year.
I swaped rods from Preston Carbonative to garbolino distance to a Daiwa tourny pro, then swapped reels from Stradic 4000 to 6000 and lines from 6 then 7 then 8lb.

Then tried all the method feeders too, and the biggest differance of all at the end of the day was the preston 45g method feeders.
A big sweeping cast, and you will chuck it 100 yards!!

Your line choice is fine but use a shock leader so you can give it some more power in the cast.Try an practice your casting technique so the feeder is flying low and fast rather than high and catching the wind/cross wind.Tackle choice is important, is your reel spool long enough ? your rod powerful enough to cope with a really long chuck accurately.Don’t think you can just buy the rod and match it with a little feeder reel and get more distance it won’t happen. You will need to match the pair and have a play on a pleasure session. I often fish with the local long distance bream expert….i just give him my pound it saves time later ! he uses a Shakespeare 14ft dutch master..it’s a plum colour with small metal bands on the female ferrules and was made for the European market i think, check ebay (both the 14ft and 15ft have come off there) as its discontinued and a big shimano baitrunner.In the right hands with the right technique 110 plus is possible. The downside is you have to take it easy when playing fish like small bream with all that power. Have a look at tricast’s new babies as well they feel the business.

You can modify the standard 28g brass stemmed Kobra feeder’s, you need to cut the weight out of an old kobra method feeder, then cut it in half across the width and araldite it to the bottom of the brass stemmed feeder.

Once araldited at the bottom, it makes the feeder front weight bearing, they cast a dream, and great for cross winds too.

A shimaano ultegra xsb, will also add distance to your cast.

Lots of good tips here – correct rod, Reel spool size, and correct diameter of line, correctly filled is key. Wouldnt go more than 5lb for long distance, personally I use 5lb pro gold which will be v similar to the 4lb drag line – the added stiffness and friction of thicker lines over the spool edge makes a big difference.

You should be easily able to attain 60m with a normal 12′ feeder set up and the correct technique – 100M plus is possible but thats where the long rods and big reels come in.

I think I can chuck pretty well – I can get level with the fountain at Barston from the side opposite the golf course which is a big chuck and reaching the early big chucks on Hayfield which is 85m is no problem with a method; have used a v long chuck on Loch Ken with a rocket feeder to good effect (probably over 90 yards). I used Carbotecs. I was proper put right by the locals at Ken though using their Dutch set ups – 15′ rods, braid and big reels – they must have being hitting 130 yards – whhiiizzz!

4lb Maxima if you need to cast further use a shock leader ~think

very important, getting the right tools for the job. i mostly use 8lb technium for all but mega chucks in which i switch rods to one that will really take it and swap reels and line to a ultegra xsb (i think, a mini pit anyway) with 6lb maxi. this still gives me plenty for banging a method a long way as its stretches well and helps absorb the force.

6 to 1 Andy, and last time i checked it was near as dam it a Yard!

Draging a lead accross the carpet and turning the handle 1 full turn is about as close as you can get without setting the reel up in a vice with a handle stop!
