      Rustler

Just been reading about the River Trent Hotspots, I was quite interested as I’m the Match Secretary of Collingham A.A on the Tidal. What I read about my stretch was utter b

        s. The price of the day ticket was 2 years out of date and the membership price was 10 years out of date. I would also love to see the “200lbs of bream taken every season”, as most match anglers haven’t caught a bream for the last 5 seasons !!!
The only thing they got correct was my phone number, which means now i am inundated with irate anglers claiming they have been overcharged !!!!!

I rung the AT to complain, and accused them of just making it all up without verifying the facts, even though they had my phone number to check.
Needless to say they haven’t rung back as promised

So unfortunately the Angling press has gone the way of the national press, meaning you should not believe what you read.

Why the hell did I keep on buying that sensationalised and over opiniated publication for 30 years ? No doubt they will publish a correction next week in miniscule detail on a page nobody looks at !

Seems to be a recurring theme with articles in the Angling times at the minute, they seem to be poorly researched and inaccurate. Look at the fishery own pellet one last week.

Its been going on for years, we did a spread on the Bridgy at Trafford Park many moons ago and were ‘encouraged’ to put fish in one net at the end of the day in order for the cameraman to get a ‘better’ picture.

Out of the office yesterday and have just been asked to put this on…

                    Gents.
Just to put the record straight, the article states that 200lb catches are taken every season. This is correct as we receive numerous reports from pleasure anglers who have enjoyed red letter days. There is no inference as to it happening ‘now’.
As regards the pricing, the detail is obviously now out of date. Apologies. We made numerous attempts to check via the website and calls to the club but were unable to confirm. On reflection, it would have been wise just to leave it out and offer no publicity.
                    Warm regards,

Fisky, you must be after a job as John Terry’s press secretary with your “no publicity is bad publicity” angle!

Careful Rustler. It doesnt bode well to have a pop at the A.Times.
They dont take critisism very well.
I read on MFS someone saying the reviews were a bit “iffy” and they got personal with him.
They are after all , just like the A.Trust the self appointed spokespeople for our sport.~naughty

Well what a load of cobblers fisky…

As one of the phone numbers was mine you published I can assure that no numpty from the AT made any attempts to check the facts with me or the secretary at the club.
If thats what you term publicity then quite frankly we would be better off without it, as the only people it attracts are mostly undesirables.

As for your moot point on when the “200lb” catches were made you are claiming journalistic license I suppose.

Your attitude speaks volumes on why people regard the AT as the daily star of angling

Also as a matter of information Newark Federation control most of the Newark dyke, your phone number was for Notts AA who have about 20 pegs !!!

PS If you had taken the opportunity to call me back, as was promised, we could have prevented all this…..

in my opinion the only thing the AT is good for is lighting the fire with, angling star is a much better read
