TF_OneTrickWent yesterday – although conditions haven’t been great with overnight temperatures etc etc I couldn’t help feelin I should have done better – ended up with fair few bream (only 3 of them were around the 2lb mark) and a couple of tench.
Fished peg 15 using the groundbait method with corn or dead reds and the cage feeder with groundbait and dead pinkies.
plan to go again soon – anyone with any pointers to get me into the bigger bream down there??????????

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantI used to catch Bream on chalet bank well in excess of 8lb some nearer the 10lb Mark that was a few year ago before the other lakes were added, I used to fish about two thirds of the way down the chalet bank near a big willow it was a flyer for big bream. Just ask Alf Ellis where to go he will put you on pegs that have been fishing.

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantAlf Ellis is Gamekeeper/ Baliff if hes still there, I used to fish it 10 plus years ago on the method when method feeder fishing was launching a feeder full of bait the size of an Orange at the Horizon, pellets, groundbait with mighty marine chunks on the hook, the bream on there were never very conventional I tried fishing for them on worm and caster and they wouldn`t have it they like pellet and swim stim groundbait. The fishing will have changed somewhat i think the specimen lake has small carp in it now too.

Up in the waterTo be honest one trick having looked at the weights from last week silver fish festival (larford website) if you have had up are 15/20 lb you have done really well. I know that the current matches on the speci lake are being won with big carp on the method sitting and waiting (hoping) for that tip to go round.you were on a noted peg on the burr bank and I would think any of the pegs on the oppisite bank would be worth a bash.

TF_matt hainesif you had 3 bream over 2 pound that seems about right at the moment! the big bream dont seem to be showing, i fished the silver fish festival last week and the bigest i had was about a pound an half. gb feeder 2 foot trail about 35 turns on the burrbank and a bit further on the chalet bank. i always put a bit of fishmeal in my groundbait as they live on the stuff there! bream not showing on the pole line till late afternoon when they do just fish pellets between 13 and 14.5 mtrs

TF_OneTrickThink I’ll try a longer hook length next time, I persisted with a 12 inch length instead of lengthening it.
you tucking the bait in the method or leave trailing??

TF_matt hainesif your just after bream i wouldt use a method id use an open end with an 18 inch to 2ft tail for carp id use a method. use a plastic open end not a cage as the gb empties to quick in a cage with the depth of water.

ColParticipantI sat and watched Bob Nudd last year on the speci lake,he fished the chalet peg, filming for a T.V company,he tried most baits, different hook lengths, method & cage feeders and even he did not catch any big bream,he had a good bag of bream biggest about 3lb.

SteveSI’m not sure what’s happened to the BIG bream that were in there but not seen or heard of any coming out for a couple of years now; the biggest i’ve had have been about 4-5lb the last couple of years…. maybe the big bream feed at night?
I also fished the silvers festival and will echo what Matt has said. Give it a couple of weeks and you won’t get in quick enough but at the moment it is hard work!
