        Hi everyone,

I would like to know what strength line you use for method feeder fishing. I’m not sure whether to stick with 6lb sensor or step up to 8lb. I’m going to be using feeders upto 30g if that makes a difference on strength of main line so any advice will be great.

        Cheers.

          4lb trilene sensation – superb

If you can break it in normal use theres something wrong with you…. No need for 8lb at all.

6lb is more than enough any thicker and it will make casting distance less easy and cause more drag

Thanks, i thought 6lb would be more than enough.

8lb Diawa Infinity used it for 2years now not even changed it yet. Can chuck it 60 70 yrds easy lol.

Its 6lb Sensor for me too, but i do have some 8lb Guru for proper distance chucks and its spot on for 70 yards +++

Correct me if i’m wrong but isn’t a lighter line better for distance fishing? So upto 30yrds 6lb and then 4lb for past that.

What do you think of the Guru Drag line Craig?

Not in my experience, throwing a massive method ball upto 80-90 yards with a for double figure carp needs 8lb line. I don’t think 4lb would put up to the constant strain.

6lb sensor for me too. Never let me down.

I really rate the Guru line, I have only used it in 8lb for big method work but it really is strong and hard wearing.

I think that it depends on the line rating the rod is geared to use. I watched a videos with Tom Pickering and Des Shipp using the same Preston 10ft feeder and they used different line ratings.

Guru Drag-Line every time for me, in either 6 or 8lb.

8IB Technium. It lasts for ever and will not break!

6lb mono( I use maxima )will cope with most
commercials, 70rds plus and big method
feeders just add a shock leader of 12lb mono.

What would you rather use then, Drag line or sensor?

bulk spool daiwa sensor way cheaper and v durable line, drag line if you dont mind spending more money is v good too though. I stick with sensor tbh had no issues
