        Anyone on here own one ?? Been offered a 2001 with 160K on the clock with full service history recent cam belt etc for £2,200. Cars previous owner was a garage owner so should be well maintained. Very tempted but just wondered if anyone on here has one and what their opinion of it was. ~think ~think

          The 1.8 is a little underpowered in the A6 but it will trundle along OK. They are good cars, Neil. You know that already with your previous car anyway. Little bit ambitious on the price but if in good knick should be a good ride, bid him 2k. I would have looked to pay 14-1500 trade tops

            Cheers Pete, still happy with the Audi I have now but just fancy an Estate to get the gear in. How long do the turbo thingies last on these as mine ain’t got one ?

              Depends on how it has been driven and how frequent the oil changes. Regular oil changes are critical for longevity of turbos due to the speed they spin. Lots of people don’t let them wind down gently before stopping which is awful. A bit like asking how long a piece of string is or trying to get hold of Wilky floats!

                i’ve had an a6 for over 6 years now.mines the 1.8t but the saloon model.its been a good car but i’ve now got a ecu problem.apparently they are about £650 to buy and then you have to have an audi dealer do the coding for you which is a megabucks job.
                very nice car to drive though and as for underpowered mine goes like a good un.

                  mart16. Give Doug a tinkle at MRC Tuning banbury, i have an auq 1.8T engine in the octavia and he does wonders with a laptop!!! Sorted all my little problems. Mine goes like stink!!!!!!

                      neil let me tell you first hand garage owners DONT look after their own cars there too busy looking after everybody elses~naughty LOL
