Hi Kev, i fished a few matches there last summer but unless you draw the nearest end of the lake to the car park then it will be hard to frame. Both times i fished there it was blowing a hoolie but peg 1 won each time. Winning weights can be between 20-30lb at this time of year. Last year meat was doing the damage (luncheon and cat) but i would assume while the weathers a bit colder you wont go far wrong with pellets and corn. Fish at the bottom of the far shelf and lay a bit of line on the bottom to avoid foul hookers. No need to fish too heavy as the fish aren’t massive.

Is it all carp or are there silvers as well?

Kev, the island is only around 11 metres away so you wont have to worry about holding a long pole. Lake 2 doesn’t have just one island but several spaced up the middle of the lake so if you draw a peg opposite then you can fish into the gaps between the islands. The islands are lined with rushes (not sure whether they will be out yet though) with a few bare areas. All i’ve ever caught are carp but i’m sure there are silvers in there. It may be worth your while to take some maggots aswell just in case the carp don’t want to play ball. Another thing i did was to use red food colouring and colour some sweetcorn i used this on the hook and caught better than just plain yellow. All the best
