How exactly do they manage to do it so regularly? I sent the number 5 from my g10 away to esselle for repair on monday, using parcelforce, and it arrived broken in two places instead of one, making the section useless as I dont want 2 to have 2 repairs on it. So i ordered a new one from fishermans friend, who took it out of a pole in the shop to save me waiting for a section to be ordered. It arrived this morning (very good service!) and i opened it up to find…..it was broken in half!! No damage to the tube at all, and im told my parcel was the same with no evidence of damage except the pole itself. Exactly how hard must they be dropping the packages to cause them to break~naughty

I’ve sent off my claim form to parcelforce who i hope will stump up the compensation, it’s certainly their fault. In the mean time, I have to wait for a new number 5 and keep my fingers crossed that this survives in one piece or it could be a while before i can fish the long pole again~think

Alex you dont know what goes on do you its like those guys who put your suit cases on the trailers and baggage ramps when you go abroad have you seen how they handle your belongings ?You do right try and claim off parcelforce they throw things about willy nilly I think they take pride in throwing peoples belongings around.

I would be surprised if it was sent by parcel force as they have a size limit on parcels and I think pole sections are beyond the size limit, however I dare say the odd one does get through, if parcel force the onus is on the sender to claim not the recipiant, if it is a courier then that is another issue. Most parcels are treated with care as for throwing parcels around yes that may have been true when all mail was delivered in bags as opposed to carefully packed loose loaded trailers, these days any mis handling of mail by any staff would be treated very seriously and as a disciplinary matter, in fact if any one witnesses such action then I would advise they comtact there local office and report the matter.

I used to work for a national courier part-time while I was at Uni and parcels were being thrown around everyday that I was there and no one was every pulled up for it!

Fred, it was the one i sent for repair that was with parcelforce, due to it being broken i was able to slide one part inside the other and the package was 1.4m long. The new section that i ordered arrived with courier but obviously that didnt get treated any better!

Alex,I do sympathise with your predicament, it’s not a great situation, however parcelforce invested a great deal of money in machines that can handle different sizes of parcels, anything that was too big was taken to the appropriate trailer by hand, so the majority of staff do take very good care or did in the offices I run as I would not tolerate mishandling of joe publics property, not saying that breakages do not occur occasionally they do, lets hope your compensation claim is dealt with appropriately, as for me I am retired from the po and have been for quite a few years, who knows what happens thesedays, best of luck mt8

If one post office wont take it, the next one will. 1.5 meters is the limit, i had one an inch over once and the guy wouldent take it!
I had a new no 8 broken in 4 places once! It took nearly a year and a solicitors letter before i got paid out, but it wa a genuine clam, so i pursued it till i eventualy got paid out.

A mate of mine, (a postie) told me at the PO, he has seen them play with long thin tubes as swords, or light sabers!

Just before christmas I bought a top 4 for a G10 on ebay and that came with every section bar the No1 broken, Parcelforce worldwide and it’s still ongoing allegedly.
Last week I got a No4 through the post snapped in half, the seller has refunded me for that one.
On monday I got another No4 via parcelforce and guess what? snapped in two! This time the seller has been in contact with parcelforce and says they’re having nothing to do with it as my son signed for it in good condition.

had endless problems with couriers, best way ive found is use TNT (book it through interparcel), use a cardboard tube! I’ve sent a fair few off like this, no trouble. will never use royal mail for anything but letters again.
a club friend use to work in the sorting offices, he wasnt surprised things got smashed!

I bought quite a few extra top sets direct from Daiwa and it took over five attempts before they arrived in one piece it was a joke can’t remember the carrier service.

                          TF_Nigel.

Daiwa now use the thick cardboard tubes you get in the centre of a roll of carpet, i have just had a no 6 off them.
It may cost a little more in postage for the cardboard tube, but its the only way i would send in the future.
