it is with great sadness that i have to report that George Dyer has sadly passed away,I was informed this morning by Brigepal Singh who caught the biggest chub to come from the crown fishery at 8 lb+ for those who fished the river lea at broxbourne 0n a regular basis George was an inspiration, always full of encouragement on those dark dismal winter days, he always assisted any angler wishing to weigh big chub or take photographs and was a welcome delight to see as he walked the river most days and was able to give everyone up to date very good info,George who had stopped fishing was in his 70,s very fit and even this year with my health up and down I never ventured on the river to fish however I did accompany George on a few river walks, the lads who fish the river and friends of which there are very many have decided to contribute towards a wooden bench on the river as a fitting tribute to George, if there was ever a more sociable and helpful individual I have yet to meet him, Rip dear friend you will be sadly missed.

sounds like a real help to anyone who needed it fred and a mind of information,as much as a memorial bench is a nice way of remembering him the scrotes of our society will probably burn it with it being on a public venue and right of way
