Considering updating my Tourney Pro pole but keep hearing conflicting “marketing” and “bankside” reports on the Pro X and Airity – tempted to just replace my hard worn Pro as they are still available and discounted now! Thoughts?

imho i would,nt listen to bankside chat about how good or bad either are, your pro top kits will fit youll have loads of spares so get whitch one you want and remember if the airity is good enough for will raison and other top matchmen it good enough for the likes of us.

Ian this particular question/post has been done to death on here I have an Airity and I love it but there is so much mixed opinion it normally causes an argument !

I can see ian’s point though, at one stage their was just the pro, but you now have the pro, pro x & airity from daiwa, im in the same boat ian, cant make my mind up, airity or pro x

Try them all and your mind will soon be made up imho , Airity all the way for spares package & performance.

The Airity is a totally different pole to the Tourney, apart from the sticky paintwork and sections that come apart when shipping. ~naughty ~naughty

The Airity feels more of an all-round pole, its lighter and better balanced but is also very strong. In my opinion the Tourney’s are more of a carp orientated pole. I think its a total different type of carbon to the Tourneys which makes it feel and fish better.

Piperpilot, thanks for the reply but sticking with Daiwa due to the spares I’ve already got.

Anthonywaters, sorry matey, didn’t realise its been done to death, couldn’t find anything listed in the forum search for the Pro X?

I will no doubt have to try them but just wanted some real anglers opinions not just the marketing blurp or waggle in the shop!!! Pro X is a lot dearer than the Pro, just everyone I speak to says give it a miss and stick with the Pro or go Airity but no votes for the new finish.

Buy a Pro and you will wonder if the Pro X is better, buy a Pro X and you will always wonder if the Airity is better again!

Just buy an Airity and be done with it!

ian i’ve got an airity and reckon its a crackin piece of kit.
i haven’t used a pro,i went from a tdp412 to the airity cos like you i have loads of tops that fit it.
if you fancy an airity, get one.you won’t regret it.

Both quality poles, I went for tourney pro x, the pro the trusted benchmark other poles compare too, so with a new better finish, strong as an ox, i had no probs on deciding on this pole for my commercial bashing, but you can’t go wrong which ever you plum for….there daiwa’s!

have the pro X not come apart yet got that sorted 🙂 finnish sound no slip or squeek in the wet hands given mine a load of stick in snag fishing on beeches lindholme i think stonger than the od pro has it as double wrap like arity only diff ithink between arity proX is the last 3 sections ie black arity silver prox and you get more spares with arity hence £300 diff in price 🙂

I am in a very similar situation myself Ian, I have a tourney pro and to be honest apart from two repaired sections it is in mint condition.

I am though a self confessed tackle tart and feel it may be time to upgrade. The best option does look like the airity as you get more tops and certainly a few more numbers fours and a parallel number four, the airity is supposed to be 100 ton carbon and slightly better handling than the pro, however it does cost more.

I keep thinking about the pro x, but then would I wish i’d bought the airity??

Ive had my Airity for almost 2 years now and only had one breakage in that time
A number six section about 10 inches up from the female joint. Put this down to too much pressure I put on it once when breaking down. It snapped about a week later.

Other than that, cannot fault it one bit.
I had a pro before this and kept all the spares, which are just the same as the Airity.

I would say that the Airity is a joy to fish long, and is so well balanced, making it well fishable at 17.5m and beyond.

Always use a short 4 for carping and never use a parallel 4 cos they are a waste of time. (bit like the CTK kits as well !!)

I would say that the Pro X will be just as good, cos its a Daiwa, but I’ve not heard of many people who have had problems with the Arity so thats what I would advise.

In all honesty, I cant work Daiwa out at the moment? They have bought out another top end pole which is just another very slightly different version of what theyve already got?
Almost like they had to do something to keep the tackle tarts happy?
                                  (Smells of Maver to me!?!?)

Can anyone advise if the TP and Arity sections are interchangeable?
What I mean is, if I broke a No6 section on an Arity would my TP No 6 fit it?

The finish on the X is great used mine at W/acres last week and had fish to 18lb+ then used it at heron brook fishing 16m+ all day to catch 100lb+ of carp, Don’t think it’s as light as the Airity but feels stronger to me.

Maker are you upgrading from the spectron power?
I have just bought a brand new 16m spectron power off e bay for a very advantageuos oops price.
Real deal tackle have sold 4 in the last few days at various prices subject to winning bids.
They still have 2 left on “buy it now” at £1699 or best offer.
I thought you were of the opinion that the speccy power was the same pole a a tourney pro with a different package .
I HAVE A G8 AS well so i am well set with a spare pole plenty of top kits all for cheaper than a g8 or g20 cant be bad.

Just gotta hope I can stretch to the Airity now!! Till then my faithfull Tourney P will continue to not let me down and the Pro X will no doubt keep calling me to think again!!
