TF_NathanWatsonAll 8mm hard pellets whether you fish the wag, bomb or pole.

TF_carpcruncherParticipant8mm???? you going to catch skimmers then nathan??
Gloves , Bait wise you will need 11mm , skrettings elite pellets . it will be all bomb and pellet fishing , with either a single or double 11mm pellet on a long hair. when you start getting liners come up on the wag…
On the wag I would be still feeding the 11mm pellets over the top , but have some varied size hard pellets for hair rigging on the wag , from 8mm upto 11mm , and even diffent colours , it could make all the diffrence. Single pellet is best on the hair.
You dont need to bollock the bait in , just keep pinging 2 or 3 pellets over the top.
99% of the pegs have a feature to cast to , but dont think you have got to go tight . its normal to fish well off the islands and far banks , and catch. On Tanners you have a bar running through the islands from one to another , this is where you normally start , but if your not catching , drop short until you find them.
I’m not sure if Pines will be in , but if it is then if I was fishing it I would attack in on pellet and corn on the pole.
All lakes are between 5ft and 7 ft , I think Josephs is a little deeper in places.
Pm Dave Britain , he may be able to help.

My 8mm are big! What are the 11mm Elite then, trout pellets?

TF_carpcruncherParticipantNathan , The 11mm elites are what Andy sells at stafford moore , you can also by them from most fishery farmers , in 25 kilo sacks. in 8mm , 10mm , and 11mm . They are a high oiled pellet , which is what Andys fish are used to . In the winter they just use a low oil coarse pellet , in 8mm and 10mm as it breaks down quicker , and in the winter the carp prefer that as opposed to the high oil pellet.

TF_NathanWatsonI’ve got some 8.5mm trout and coarse pellets but some are bigger, dodgy sized coarse pellets! Caught on both but thought the coarse pellets might be better there for wag as they sink slower?

TF_njdudsburyHello all
I was there a week last week.
Best methods were shallow wag and 8mm pellet on both Tanners & Woodpecker. Try the bomb if it goes quiet.
For the skimmers fish expanda @ 4-5m with loads of groundbait and micros.
Pines, I wood fish hard 6mm pellet up against the islands for carp & expanda short for skimmers, tench crucians.
Whatever you do,, enjoy it as its a great place!!
Our best weight for our lads was 261lb on the open match which he won on shallow wag.
Hope this helps
Cheers

Steve SStafford fished reasonable on Sunday, top weight of 145lb from peg 3 Tanners (on the bomb)and another two weights over 140lb with 120lb odd not even picking up a section win, so it was very tight. The fish followed the wind, so if you drew the end of the lake without the wind you could not compete, like myself, peg 13 Tanners. Still had a near 70lb though edge dwelling and on the bomb. It was too windy for the waggler to work properly.
Beware though Andy is using Tanners, Woodpecker and Joseph’s on Sunday. Alot a carp anglers fishing Joseph’s now and catching big fish, upper teens and twenties. Could very interesting for the anglers drawing Joseph’s?

TF_herbiethe weather is the key to s/m. follow the wind. every peg is capable of winning a match. ask andy what bait is best although i only take 8mm pellets and if fishing the lead either use 2 on the hair rig or an 11mm. feed little at the moment to start and see where it takes you. tench are very active on woodpecker especialy 26/28 tight over. the fish on tanners seem to love the islands and on certain pegs you have to go beyond them to catch 27/6/5/3 come to mind. some anglers are catching shallow 18″ just casting and leaving the float to wander without much feed 32/34/36 woodpecker are best for this. try waggler to depth as this is still producing in certain areas as is paste down the edge. both will catch but neither will win money yet. if the wind is north blowing into the low numbers on woodpecker run to pegs 20/22/24. hope that helps
