Report:
A -3C frost on the venue followed by cold NW wind all day capped weights on Lake Two at Dynamite Baits Makins for the Wednesday Kobra Open, and although fish were caught all round the lake most struggled for the odd fish.

The exception was Mosella Smart Baits backed Jason Redgrave, who fished shallow on pole to ‘pick off’ fish from the edge of a massive shoal of carp that settled to his left (off un-pegged area B22-B25) for a clear win with 84 lb 12 oz.

Runner up Terry Phillips (Attleborough Angling) caught on method feeder from peg A14 for his 55 lb 8 oz, third placed Mark Fox (Dynamite Baits) caught his 50 lb 14 oz of carp (including a red, white and blue koi carp of around 8 lb) on pellet waggler.

Report:
Organiser of the previous day’s Fish-O-Mania, Dave Kent (Long Eaton Victoria AS) showed he can also fish with a clear win off Derwent on Phase 3 in the Thursday KOBRA open at Dynamite Baits Makins.

After catching a couple of small carp early on using corn fished near the island Dave switched to meat presented in the margins to end up with around a dozen carp for his 74 lb 4 oz catch.

Mick Timson (Korda Developments) took second place from peg 16 fishing corn on long pole to the end of the island, Wendell Ward (Best Baits) taking third from peg 27 with 24 lb 8 oz of carp plus a bream taken fishing shallow towards the island on bread punch and pellet.

Next week’s Thursday Kobra Open (29th April) will be on Crater and Snake (Makins Phase 2) 10 am draw.
