Read the wording of the policy as I understand few cover equipment in use. This means if you are fishing and someone accidentaly stands on your pole its not covered. However if it is damaged or stolen whilst at home it is covered.
The same obviously applies to any other tackle you want to cover.

are there any policies that DO cover pole sections when in use? I’d be interested in taking one out if it offers that kind of cover…

Cover in unattended vehicles is an area you may want to look into. Many insurers only provide cover up to £1k in a locked boot (or glove box) out of sight. You will need to read the policy wording.

Direct Line and Privelege (same company) do not provide such a limit, it is whatever your ‘Personal Possessions away from the home’ figure is mine is £5k and the policy wording is ‘hidden from view’. This is why my tackle is under a big sheet when in the back of my estate, which they have confirmed is fine.

I am with prudential and they have paid up when a cyclist ran over my pole, not sure about how much cover in car tho. Never had any issues with claims tho and would recommend to anyone
