        Hi
Have been left some pennies by a late great Uncle and am considering going all out for the tackle tart’s Rive Box. Has anyone got any Pro’s / Cons / thoughts that may help me make my mind up?

Also does anyone know if it fits on to the space station shuttle?? As I have been told that the wheel kit is not up to taking a carryall etc.

Thanks in anticipation………if I get it Foxy I will be able to batter ya !! LOL ~think

Probably THE best box when in your peg:
does everything, stable, strong, well made, versatile & looks good!!!!! lol

          Cons….

Very heavy, VERY large for storage (you would’nt want to drag it through the house each outing)
          Very large in transit!!
(you might have to sacrifice your travelling partner to get it in vehicle… but that might be a plus point to!)

I have an old Rive box, very old! The clips and corners of trays used to break very easily but think the new ones look a little better. Also have problems with the plastic draws wearing out and falling out of slots onto tray below and crushing floats and 1 of these is a new tray unit! I really can’t see the point in the big metal frame round the new boxes and they are so over-priced for what they are! As Simon says, will not get 2 in a car or on a standard platform trolley/barrow. I also don’t like the new seats! Much better off getting a Brilo or Matchbox in my opinion, better made, more reasonably priced, room for reels and big items and don’t take up as much room in car!

Pros – Super stable and in the main well made.
Cons – Cannot adjust the height independantly from the footplate. Height can only be achieved by adding or taking off modules. So if you are tall you may need to buy extra modules to achieve the correct height. Oh and they’re a tad expensive.

Pros – Very stable and ultra strong, can’t fit it in my mates car so travel alone ~clap

Cons – very heavy and should come with a personalised caddy ~think

                    Pro’s

Infinate combinations of taking what you require (unless you are 6′ or taller where you will need to add a few trays above the frame to sit properly). Easy change of rigs etc if you fish on different types of waters i.e. rivers one week, commercials the next etc.

                    Con’s

Needing to see an Osteopath after every match unless you can wheel the box straight into the back of the car (people carriers are ideal for this with builders barrow loading ramps)

Hi Baz I got a ST and to be honest there aint a box out there to match it. That is why all new boxes are looking like rives and are compared to a rive. They are heavy and big but then your a big boy and you need a solid box. Downside is the cost they are stupid prices! But do what i did wait your time and pick up a secondhand one
As for the trolly you only have to walk 20 yards at Orchard….

Buy one theyre great. I have a d36 st hsp and its worth the hassle, i can fit two sets of kit in my estate.

They may cost a bit, but they WILL last a lifetime, they do exactly what theyre meant to and the trolley will take a carryall and bucket and sidetray on the footplate when extended.

They will fit on the space station trolley as my mate uses in on the River Bann.

Theres a d36 rx fluro on ebay at the minute which is good value if you like looking gay.

Personally i have used Rive since 1992 when they were sold by Wayahead and I still use the original box occasionally and trays are constantly in use.

A D25 is good but a D36 is rock solid and is worth the extra few bob.

just make sure you can get the seat at the right height for your size.my mates got one and fishing the long pole is a nightmare.not good enough for a bag of sand.

I thought about a Rive for a very long time but have been put of on the size the lack of trays and the seat is very hard, the attatchments are very pricey.I was told to buy a seat of ebay for it witch would be more comfy which i found a joke as the box on its own with a couple of trays was just short of a grand.I have opted for a space station compact which is very neat has a fair bit of storage and the seat is comfy, and the fact i could buy three of them for the price of the rive made it a no brainer for me,also i wont need a forklift to pick it up.

I’ve got a d25 st in all black, looks the sh*t. They are expensive, so I would buy the main box second hand off here or off ebay. £300 should buy you an st in good condition. They are expensive, but they will last you a lifetime. The tray system is simply brilliant, and given that preston have copied them, as have maver, as have daiwa then think that shows you how good they are.

It’s great to have a good stack of trays, different winders for different days and venues. I’m 6ft1, 18 stone, and the d25 is solid as a rock. If you already have lots of preston off-box bits go for the d25, as a change to the green insert and they fit. If not look at the d36, though beware you will have to buy Rive accessories for this and that will add up big time. The seat, I find, is very comfy. I like the lip at the back, for my provides great support when fishing.

They are most definitely heavy, but built to last. The trays stand plenty of knocking about. Mine fits on my Fox barrow, just. However, if you don’t already have a barrow or thinking of a bigger one for it, and you dson’t need the platform, take a look at one of these http://www.gt-precision-angling.co.uk/home.aspx
much better than the rive trolley conversion and probably cheaper.

If you have your heart set on one, and realise they are big and heavy, just get yourself one and you won’t regret it, I sure as heck haven’t. Specially every time I stand up to ball in, and unlike my matchbox, the footplate and box don;t move and I don’t feel like I am going to topple in!!

                                          hi mate i bought a d36 which cost me £1300 !!!!!!
it sits on the shuttle with no probs mate even with its foot plate open.
imho it the best box by far on the market by miles.
they are expensive so make sure you have enough cash for the extras that you will need as the standard set ups hardly come with anything and if you purchase the d36 you will require to buy add ons by rive as no other manufacturer produce out rig fittings big enough .
if there good enough for steve ringer, darren cox and alan scothorne they must be good!! ~clap

Well Thanks to you all…..excepting Terry The TW** from Dorset. Selfey if I got this fab box like you have, I may venture further away than Orchard Lakes ……..as long as I can STILL park behind me peg tho LOL.

All joking aside, I really think I just wanted convincing that if I did spend the money that it would be a wise investment.

I have the Preston Space Station at the moment so a large box is not unusuall to me.
I am definitely gonna spend the money as I said it was left to me by a relation who used to fish so in his memory I will get the Rive and join the growing band of tackle tarts @ Orchard Lakes………Do they do it in a very bright PINK!!!!!

Cheers again tight Lines to you all Baz~clap

I have had frame type rive for many years, I find the frame and attachments are superb but its badly let down by the trays, I am for ever snapping catches off in the winter, they are to bulky for normal winders and the trays catches snap off within minutes, the slide/runner wear and snap off. I think if money is no object I would go for a hybred box sticking milo trays and seat on the rive frame.
