  Drennan Team England International team announced for Nations World Championships
  
  Mark Downes and Mark Addy, Drennan Team England International Managers have announced that after ten years of success they are sending the most experienced team to fish this yearâ€™s World Nations Championships in Ciudad Real, Spain 26th/27th June. Both Managers feel that to compete at the highest level, this team is the best in the world.
  
  The team are already the proud owners of a vast amount of gold medals and are hoping to add to their personal collections yet again at the World Championship.
  
  The Drennan Team England squad for 2010 are: Will Raison, Alan Scotthorne, Steve Gardner, Sean Ashby, Stuart Conroy and Des Shipp.
  
  The six internationals are considered to be one of the most respected teams in the world and one of the favourites to compete for the title of World Champions in 2010 hoping to improve on last yearâ€™s results in Almere, Netherlands in September where the Drennan Team England Internationals finished in 5th place just 3.5 points behind eventual winners Slovakia. At the same event, Will Raison just missed out on another individual World Championship win to come runner up with 15.332 points.
  
  Dick Clegg, OBE, International Events Manager, Angling Trust said â€œMark Downes and Mark Addy have become the most successful partnership on the FIPSed world match fishing scene during the past 9 years.
  
  Now entering their tenth year as Drennan Team England managers, it is almost impossible for anyone to suggest that their selection is not up to the task. This team of six anglers has had so much success in the past that it is very difficult for anyone to take their place in the squad, and I wish them all the best for this yearâ€™s Championship in Spainâ€

  Top class act…….I did get the usual begging phone call,but had to decline as usual……..The reason being i broke my 5th section again.
  But i know they can get by without me….lol.

  I’m with you Mick,er indoors never put the phone back on the hook properly today,consequently the two mark’s wouldn’t have been able to get through~naughty .
  I’ll leave it now though as it would be unfair to Will to have it waved under his nose,then snatched away~clap

  Is this England’s strongest ever team? How do you think it compares to the team of 15 or so years ago, including a lot of the names above, plus Milsom and Nudd?

  Has Steve Gardner been the longest serving England Angler….he seems to have been in the team for ages…before all the rest of the team added together..I am sure he fished in the late 80’s and early 90’s.

  in 1988 in damme belgium he came 2nd in the world to fougeat of france,and england won team gold on weight after tieing on points with italy.

  Its a pity angling doesnt get the media coverage it deserves,especially with success stories like the England team. I think we,re still thought of as a pastime and not a sport.
