I was there this morning (12th reserve with 10 no shows! doh) and Matt Haines had drawn end peg on the match lake (burr bank)and I really think he’ll be hard to beat.

Dave Brittain had drawn 54 on match behind the island and would have a chance. Andy may and Keiron had drawn the same bank but were tightly pegged and I think they were up against it.

Bodge was not on a flier on speci but had a lot of fish in front of him but it was flat calm and I imagine any wind would move them along.

The 60s looked solid as well.

a guy called ben emry won so good luck in the final 139.15 on arena,
104 second peg 4 on match lake third steve ringer 101 pound peg 32 speci i think. forth 91 pound and fifth 83 pound. i had 75 pound the fish just didnt turn up down the edges i just needed a good hour on them but it didnt happen!

the fish didnt come down the edge in any numbers just the odd one! all the carp that normally come down the edge/end peg seemed to be spread out cruising around the lake just baskin not really feeding, funny time of year at the mo! even after the match the fish were not down the edge like they normally are which is very unusual! story of my life drawing the right peg on the wrong day!

Fantastic achievement for Ben, who I have known since he was a young lad.

This is all the more creditable as for years he could hardly summon the energy to fish for five hours owing to illness, but now he is back in good health he is really starting to fulfil his potential. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer fella, well done Ben.

When me and Ben got to our pegs in the morning i said he had a great chance of winning,we were both on arena he was peg 28 and i was 35,Bens peg was in the corner with reeds pads and 3 empty platforms to his left,it looked solid and i thought he would be on for a good wheight,i was in the middle of his section so i knew i was right up against it.Ben was into fish straight away before having a dry spell where he cleverly worked out how to get the fish feeding in a way where he could catch them,i cant tell you how pleased i am for him, we have fished together for a few years now and both had our share of good wins but this one caps them all.I would also like to say that there were other great looking pegs with lotts of space that didnt compete with Bens wheight so well done me old mate.I was second in our section which also contained former champion Mick Ball,so a small bit of comfort for me aswell.If i dont get through to the final at least i will still be there sitting behind me old mate which i will be very proud of.
