TF_baitchefParticipantWhats doing the biz? I usually use 10’s/12’s/14’s B911’s for fish up to 4lb or 5lb. What other patterns are good?

con2302ParticipantFor paste and cat meat I use Maver MT4’s. It is an eyed hook but I tie it like a spade end.
Never let me down yet. -

London WaspThe two patterns I use and have complete confidence in at this time of year are GURU MWG’s in 10 and 12 sizes and Mustad Carp Paste Barbless hooks sizes 10-16. These are oversized and are superb for big fish, I gently angle the gate of the gape and tie them knotless knot to GURU N-GUAGE rig line 0.17-0.22.

AnonymousWhen using eyed hooks for Paste fishing what is the view on the most reliable knots?

AnonymousTubertini 175s. There in sizes 1-6. Think your looking at the 3s, 4s and 5s to match the hook sizes you stated. Check them out before you waist your money on other types of hooks.

con2302ParticipantPostie Al. I tie eyed hooks the same as I would a spade end but leave a slightly longer tag of line for the paste to grip on to.

TF_baitchefParticipantThe weight of the hook could make a difference but i think it depends on the venue, certainly where i fish, i cant say it makes any difference. I have used a couple of different patters and sizes and the carp just find paste irresistible. Its a big visual and more importantly easily digestible bait and they just love it.
