TF_craigmI’ve had no problems with mine so far. I’ve had some decent sized carp at Woodlands and Lindholme and they feel very strong – i’ve also drilled mine for pulla’s and they still feel sturdy. You may have just give the top kit a slight knock at some point which had cracked/weakened it ???
I don’t think the pole is made by Reglass as the sections and finish feel better than the 481 i had and also the pole doesn’t bend like a Maver does when playing fish, but saying that the Maver and Sensas sections are interchangeable ??? -

TF_Two-netsIt’s not made by Reglas – that’s a definite.
I had carp of 20lb, 16lb and 10lb on mine last week, not by design but it coped admirably. At the weekend I had 131lb and 99lb on a top kit and 1 section with no issues – fish to about 5lb or so.
I will agree that the top kits do not appear to be very strong but I spoke to a few owners of the Z9 pole before parting with my money and to a man they said they had not had any issues. The same top kits are used throughout the Xitan range and the Z7 is considered a great carp pole.

TF_paulDI had red Hydro thru mine for a while and had some real lumps with a Z7 4th fitted but I took it out as it just felt to brutale on pole and fish. i used thes kits on my old z7 aswell and only broke 1 in over a year but was with double 4 fitted which was odd. Maybe a dodgy kit.
The z9 kits are very light so i supose the odd break is gonna happen but think its worth it for how light they make the pole feel when fishing long. ive now got up to 14 laytex thru mine and have fished it with .20 line and had no probs. There is a proper power kit in the browning catalog but itis heavier.
And at least there cheap, i spent a fortune replacing kits on my old Maver and Sensas poles. my mates now bought a couple of the pmk kits for his 744.
Adam Richards post on here sometimes and i remember him saying the hes used red Hydro in his z9 and at 17m ! -

TF_nitroMost people i talk to comment that the PMK’s are incredibly strong~think How do you guys think the z9 number 4 section copes with heavier elastics, is it up to the job?

The biggest elastics i have is black hydro and doubled no8 Preston slip as these are usually big enough. It does take slightly longer to land fiush but is kinder to the fish.
I don’t use my Z9 no4 if fishing near snags etc for big carp – i use a Z7 no4 which feel stronger but are slightly heavier. They also only cost £55 as opposed to £135 for a Z9 one.

TF_fourcanalsWell cop for this craig taking on board what you said re damage etc Broke 2 more kits today both had black hydro I am p off to say the least I WAS NOT pulling overly hard merly trying to turn a fish b4 it snagged me in the side This lot is going back in the morning and if the dealer car still walk after I INSERT in a sutable place Got rid of a map after no damage in years no confidence in the top kits at all Down to 6 tops now!!!

TF_craigmI can’t believe it fella, I used mine at Woodlands at the weekend and had carp to 8lb using half lengths of black hydro at 14.5m against the boards in 2′ of water and they really set off, i just held on and the pole soon got them under control no problem. I’m wondering if you have got a bad batch of top kits or something ?? i haven’t heard of anyone else who has broken tops like that. Where did you buy it from ??

TF_nitroIf they are being used within their elastic rating then i assume they are covered under guarantee?
Still, sounds a bit worrying that you have broken 3 without particularly heavy gear.

TF_craigmYes Baz i put a 2.5″ wrap around them about 8″ from the bottom, drilled them and double bushed them.

adam1Participanti ve used elastics up to a doubled up 10-12 in mine with an extra 3 foot of elastic chopped off it when fishing into reeds and a 14s through 1 section fishing in snags for chub and have had no problems at all. i ve not heard of any other top kit breakages from other people the power match kits are extremely strong. is it these you ve broke or the Z9 match kits which are rated to a 12?
were abouts have your top kits broke? they could possibly have taken a knock at some time (maybe during delivery etc) you may be best taking them back to your tackle dealer you bought it off and see what they say, other than if they ve some how been damaged before you you ve recieved the pole im stuck to as how they ve broke.

TF_fourcanalsOK lads been back to john at fishing republic re the snapped sections bear with me on this post as an answer may be apparant.1 let me go on record that John at fishing republic has handled this problem brilliantly. It appears that I have been trying to bully fish with laccy that is not correct.ie no 14 black hydro half length in one section will snap if trying to turn lumps when in the margins. Bad angling was the reply I, after an hours explaining the ruedements of hydro, not lifting the top three till the need to net the fish.i accept the statement totally. On the nice side the browning zebco rep has contacted me and we are going to have a further chat on friday. like that and he seemed to be active and wanting to understand what is wrong The three sections are to be sent back and we will await the reply. My defence to the bad angling on my part is to move from a sub 1000 pole to a more expensive pole is that care far more attention and luck is needed to land a lump. So to summarize dont be put off the pole cos some clowne tries to do more with it with wrong laccy please be gentle with me lads Again I cannot praise John at fishing republic too much

adam1Participantalex.
i just use the Z9 number 4s for everything. obviously that type of fishing isnt what its designed for so i wouldnt recommend doing that sort of thing with it but i ve certainly had no trouble when i have so it shows its strong enough to easily cope with normal commercial fishing

TF_fourcanalsBrowning are all over me like a rash .What can i say e mail contact telephone calls It seems that the top three are to be exchanged without a quibble Everyone can lean on these kits with big fish so we may have identified the problem why mine are getting trashed so easily Again for the record my chin was on my chest wednesday after trashing two tops, talking to browning for 45 minutes today and I am a happy bunny(well nearly) They really take customer satisfaction very seriously

TF_Mick FordhamFour Canals (Alex),
Very pleased to hear that Browning have given you very good after sales service.
For the record, I have had my Z9 since last Sept (first batch) and love the pole. Broke a No.6 (which was my fault) had a replacement in less than a week (paid for it off-course as it was my fault the section broke).

TF_paulDmy local shop says that browning is the best company he deals with for after sales and deliveries. hearing this is one of the reasons i went for the z9 cos i had major problems getting bits for my previous poles. I got a z9 5th in 5 days~clap. I use some of there other gear now and its all been great but its a bit dear.
