I applied for Google Ad Sense a few weeks ago, was approved a few days later for Fishyworld, and I have been experimenting on the main page of the site as to how unintrusive ads will look etc…

I have a nice place for a 200×600 (Or there abouts) format ad underneath the sidebar which would not be in the way, and hopefully will help pay for the site a little bit…

Anyways my question is to those of you that have knowledge of this stuff (Darren maybe?) , how do I make it so that the ads are fishing related?
I have added “Channels” in my ad sense settings and it doesn’t seem to help… All it has atm is an computer game advert…

What am I doing wrong? ~think

            Lee,

Channels are just for your own reference so that you know which ad / site is performing

Google spider the page and then attempt to display relevant ads. It takes them a while, that’s why you get weird ads to start with. Remember that the words on your page need to be fishing related, if you build a page about a famous angler passing away you might end up with undertaker ads on that page.

Good luck with it. A few years back Google used to pay about 50% of the click costs back to Adsense publishers but it’s nothing like that now, so if your keywords are cheap then you’ll not get rich.

              Thanks for the info 🙂

If it pays a 5-10% of the actual costs of keeping the site, that will be a help… Not that its the most expensive hosting I have, but every little helps so to speak 🙂
