No it’s best off in the bin other wise it’s just going to rot on the bottom and it will effect water quality.

AnonymousSo we all chuck our waste bait in the lake at the end of every match then???
Id like to see the results on hard fished waters after that then!!!
Also i think problems would arise?
Or maybe im doing it wrong by taking mine home???~naughty ~naughty ~naughty -

Not all of it will be eaten, the bottom of the lake will eventually become foul from the excessive amount of bait being thrown in. In the end it will lead to poor oxygen levels, especially from the likes of pellets and meat.

TF_Smedif it all gets eaten its not really the point is it
cos we all know what happens to any food that eaten (what goes in must come out etc)so either way it will have some effect on the quality of the water…
the fish in commys have enough food to see them through, yes they will still eat even if they are full (thats any animals nature)
i take mine home and feed it to my koi or freeze it for another session
things like old casters/maggots i give to the birds -

TF_Serious SamThere was a similar discussion on another forum recently and the point that caught me is that by everyone throwing bait in at the end of the match we’re effectively teaching the fish that if they hold off until late then a bucket load of food arrives and they can safely eat themselves silly.
Won’t take them too long to understand not to feed DURING the match and instead gorge afterwards when everyone’s gone home.

rollingIagree about notthrowing it in.Competition for food,it should extend to anglers thinking after they have finished fishing. These days one angler leaves another is in his peg.The volume of food must be mind blowing,Surley it makes sense to have bait limits.

TF_kev34Had this happen at Lakeview last month, with an hour to go lad 2 pegs away chucked his bait in before leaving early, wouldn`t mind but behind him is the stock pond where it would have been more sensible to chuck it…~think ~think

TF_AnthonywatersParticipantIts goes the full circle this argument one minute fisheries are complaining Anglers are not using enough bait so the growth of the fish are stunted then you cant throw your bait in because your affecting the water quality ! I can see White acres point where the place is pressured but some venues could do with some bait to be honest.

AndyMacfarlaneParticipantI freeze whatever I don’t use. It’s normally OK but if it’s not quite right, I use it to bulk out a fresh mix.

TF_dirkdiggleron two commercial fisheries i’m aware of the owners go round every peg on the complex and put a scoop of pellets in at the end of every day during the summer.
for the people who are advocating not throwing your spare bait in i’d like to see your official evidence that this does a water any harm please?? -

TF_carpcruncherParticipantif it general waste of bait , corn pellet groundbait ect , the fishery owner could have a bin just for that , then anglers could put in at the end of there matches , sessions , and the owner could then choose to put i in the stock ponds to feed his other fish maybe?? just an idea??
