We had a very good turnout today of 34 that included 4 juniors. Unfortunately the carp chose this weekend to spawn and there was as much thrashing about in the reeds by the fish as there was with rods on the bank by the fisherman. The fish though had the best of it!

The water level was slowly rising throughout the day due to the blocked sluice and pegs that had water on them at the start had more water by the end. Even dry pegs had some water on them by the end of the match. There was spawn on my platform that had been thrown there by the thrashing of the fish.

Water clarity was 15 inches and the water temperature at the bottom in my peg 29 ( 5 foot off the platform)was 19.4°C. The warmest part of the day was at 1600 at 25.5°C and we had a cloudless sky all day. The wind was light and a little variable from the WSW up to 7 mph. The visibility was 50km and air pressure 1021hPa and falling.

Fishing needless to say was very hard made even harder as I was forced to make a 5 metre or over ruling during the match to stop spawning carp being foul hooked. There really is no need for people to fish right in amongst spawning fish.

1st James Coathupe, Nisa Waveney Juniors, who fished the long pole up in the water and the pellet waggler for a very creditable 46lb 10oz from peg 18. James was nearly 8 pounds (or 2 carp) ahead of the next man.
2nd Colin Provins, Suffolk Water Park/Bait-Tech on peg 14 who 39lb 0oz fishing the pellet waggler.
3rd Mick Hanks, Diawa Angling Direct Suffolk, on peg 22 with 27lb 10oz
4th Darren Clarke, Suffolk Water Park/Bait-Tech on peg 10 fishing the pellet waggler with 26lb 9oz
5th Peter Binks, Walton on Naze, Essex, on peg 15 with 22lb 4oz
6th and Section 1 Keith Westgate, from Beccles, on peg 7 with 15lb 7oz
7th and Section 2 Warren Martin, Lewis’s Anglers World, Norfolk, on peg 28 with 3 pellet waggler caught carp for 15lb 06oz
8th Mike Whittaker, Diawa Angling Direct Suffolk, on peg 17 with 11lb 10oz

Matches on Wed, Sat, Sun and Bank Holiday Monday.
