Your question is very puzzling Tweet, the figures are there for all to see, the accounts are very clear and transparent, are you suggesting they are misleading?

Have you contributed to the Angling Trust?

Are you a fully paid up member?

Can you publish on here for all to see, how much of your income has gone to the Angling Trust please?

Just to add some controversy to the discussion…

On page 13, income from ‘freshwater competitions’ is £162,447. Then on page 14, expenditure on ‘freshwater competitions’ is £138,117. Making them a profit of £24,330.

The main freshwater competition that springs to mind is fishomania, where the prize money has not been increased as far as I’m aware.

I’m not naive, and understand money has to be made to balance books, however does anyone else think there should be more transparancy in the finances of the competiton? Considering the enrty fees have risen and the prize stays the same?

I have felt for a long time that the prize money should increase on Fish’O but it isn’t the Trust that ‘owns’ it. They merely do the administration. £25,000 when it started 17 years ago was worth twice as much as it is now. For instance in 1995, 3 years after the start of Fish O Mania, diesel was 53.84p per litre today it is an average of 120.1p!

That is not the Trusts’ fault but like the Trusts’ lack of funding it is down to the angler.

Why pay more for something that is actually worth less? I haven’t fished the FishO for a few years now and won’t until the prize money goes up but there is always a clamour for tickets and plenty say they are disappointed not to get tickets.

Why should Matchroom increase the value of the prize when they get the support they do already.

have to say the prize money on fisho is of no interest to 90% of anglers whereas angling welfare is or should be the concern of all anglers. most anglers are born meme,s and can come up with all sorts of reasons not to join. i count them as the lowest form of angling life and i dont care who that upsets. if the cap fits wear it. put up or shut up

                  Wise words indeed Herbie.

We all shout when things go wrong, very few are willing to do anything about it.

I really can’t see the problem with making profit from running matches, take that profit away from the accounts and things then don’t look good.

The income from the Fishomania is only 1/3 of the total revenue shown from freshwater competitions ( based on ticket sales) Matchroom are the sponsers for the Fisho not the Trust, The Trust run the event.

If the Trust is to move forward it needs funds and it certainly isnt getting the support from the sector it is trying to help and protect

As for where’s the money gone’ the accounts are perfectly clear and its all there in black and white

So on that note back to Herbies post or get your monies out
