Have used GURU Drag-Line for a while now and it’s ideal in 4lbs.

The main issue i find with the line I use is that it absorbes water very quickly and sinks. Of the lines mentioned is there any particular one that is better in this regard?

That’s one of the problems with Maxima and the pellet waggler, I switched to Sensor a couple of seasons back and am more than happy with it. Perfect for the job IMO

Sensor is hard to beat for the price you pay.

4lb Sensor – 7 quid for about 4000 metres, you can change it as often as you want at that price. Never let me down, had a 23 pounder at Larford last week no problems.

I’ve been using Maver Genesis for my float work.
It hasnt got the price benefits of Sensor (which i use for all my feeder work) but it casts beautifully, excellent strength for the diameter and pretty durable.

Theres nothing wrong with maxima. The most important aspect of any line for the PW is its durability and ability to take a lot of punishment and low dia lines simply don’t last the course on heavy bagging sessions.

If you tie 3lb Maxima to a tree and put a 90 degree bend in the rod the line is almost impossible to break. Treat it with silicon line floatant spray and it will float all day, (I use it on the rivers as well especially for chub).

I use 4lb Maxima for most of my PW work at Viaduct, Stafford Moor and I even use it on Larford Speci Lake.

If you go with a heavier line you lose out on control.

I’ve started using Berkley Trilene Sensation. Very strong and casts very well in 6Lb. £4.99 for 300M.
