FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 11/7/10
Last week there were 80 rods caught 68 fish for an average of 0.85.
It is fishing really hard at the moment with the hot bright conditions making sport very difficult. Despite this there were a few decent catches.
Ray Cramp of Coventry took a five fish limit from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to a black Gold Head Lure fished deep and slow with his best a 4lb rainbow.
Kevin Brooke of Tamworth had four fish from a boat on Cocks Close and these all came to black Buzzers fished on a floating line. Gary Cooper of Sutton Coldfield caught five fish to 3lb on black Lures from Park Meadow.
The wires bank and out around the middle willows have been the most productive areas on Cocks Close.
Best tactic is to get the fly as deep as possible and fish it a dead slow with GRHE, black Tadpole, Buzzers and Montana Nymphs the most productive patterns.
Catch and release has now been suspended on Cocks Close and prices are: 5 fish will be £20.00, 2 fish £13.00, evening ticket (from 4pm) £10.00, OAP will be £10.00 (except on Mondays, which will be £8.00). We plan to keep the fishing open until the end of July.

PACKINGTON TROUT FISHERY
FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 27/6/10
Last week there were 89 rods caught 143 fish for an average of 1.61.
The very hot bright conditions have really made things tough for the anglers over the last few days. Despite this, there were a number of good catches and the best fish of the week was a 6lb 1oz rainbow which fell to Mark Sturgess of Nuneaton who was fishing from a boat on Cocks Close and he caught a further four fish, all on a home tied Nymph on a floating line. Andrew Moulder fished the Great Pool from a boat and took a 6lb rainbow and returned a further six more and these all came to Buzzer and Baby Doll. Dave Bratby of Birmingham fished a small Gold Head GRHE from the bank of Cocks Close and caught and released 10 fish up to 4lb.
The best area on Cocks Close has been along the wires bank with most of the other banks very weedy at the moment. Weed cutting will start next week to improve the situation. Great Pool is best just off the dam wall and Park Meadow is fishing best from the dam out into the middle of the pool.
From Monday July 5th, catch and release will be suspended on Cocks Close and prices will change accordingly: 5 fish will be £20.00, 2 fish £13.00, evening ticket (from 4pm) £10.00, OAP will be £10.00 (except on Mondays, which will be £8.00). We plan to keep the fishing open until the end of July.

FISHERY REPORT – WEEK ENDING 20/6/10
Last week there were 127 rods caught 253 fish for an average of 1.99.
The cooler northerly breezes and cold nights are helping to keep the water lower than you would expect during June and this is helping to maintain sport at a reasonable level.
The best fish last week was a 10lb rainbow caught by Anthony Sheehan of Balsall Common who took it on a tiny Klinkhammer dry fly whilst fishing from a boat on the Great Pool. On the day ticket water Cocks Close, Stephen Roberts of Birmingham had a 6lb rainbow along with seven other fish using small black Buzzers fished on a floating line from a boat. Trevor Riches of Solihull continues his good form taking fish of 5lb and 4lb and releasing a further six fish and these came to Damsel Nymphs on an intermediate line. Malcolm Randle of Bedworth and Ray Cramp of Coventry shared a boat on the Great Pool and caught six fish and released twelve between them on Nymphs.
Cocks Close is fishing best from the sandbank around to the wires bank. There is a lot of weed along the roadside and into the Burnet Iron corner. Great Pool is fishing well from the middle island down to the dam wall and Hall Pool is best at the dam e
