        Need some help !! 1st day of the river season we have a match on a big wide drain,in the fens.I want to feed about 1 pint of squatt in my initial balls ,then leave it for 45 mins ,go on the feeder for bream,and hopefully drop on the said line then, bag up!!you need lake and roach groundbaits,so how would you start?? Iwas thinking 4 balls neat lake then cup in 3 balls of squatt ,but in what?? if that makes sense? any ideas?cheers jay p

          Firstly Jay, it would be handy to know what depth and colour of the water is like.

          I guess if you are using normal lake/roach groundbaits then the drain doesn’t flow much!

          If you are catching Bream on the feeder then I also assume you won’t even come back on the pole line.

            Sorry, slightly coloured ,9ft max at 8 sections,bream are big ,i had 3 for 18lb 8oz last year,but still need roach and skimmers to win,and no, it does not flow in the summer!

              In that depth of water I would mix your groundbait with leam, maybe up to 50/50. Put the amount of squatt you want into balls to cup in and then I would ball the rest of the balls that don’t contain any loosefeed.

              I would normally do this to get an instant response and fish straight over it, but if you are putting that much squatt in then they should still be there.
